"We have visited The Hollybush on several occasions and do think it is a top quality restaurant. Spotless toilets, comparable to a 4 star hotel and immaculate presentation throughout. However, this time, we left overall disappointed with our meal. The rump steak was not the best and quite bland. The beef Sunday roast was very chewy. The salt and pepper squid starter was surprisingly spicy and not served with a lemon slice, which was disappointing. The children's menu, when put together main and dessert, is expensive for smaller children. We will probably visit again one day, as they do try hard to give a top quality experience, it is just this time, the food underwhelmed. Past visits have warranted 4 and 5 stars, just not today."

My starter was lovely. But the risotto which has been recommended by staff was a no no! Very bland apart from the cheap pieces of chorizo and no way had there been any truffle in the meal. My husband 's meal was good, but very pricey for what it is View menu

Excellent Sunday roast, very tasty full of flavour. All staff very friendly and efficient. We had the most delightful waitress on Sunday, she was so helpful and had a lovely way with customers. Definitely would recommend the Holly Bush we will be going back for more

Firstly the staff from arrival to the end of the visit were attentive and fab. Ryan was great and Lucy on the bar was equally super. The food was prompt and absolutely delicious. The ambience was just perfect for a meal out catching up with a friend. Thank you all for making the evening great. Ceri

First visit for many years and it didn't disappoint, great service from the minute we walked through the door. We had booked as a 7 5 adults 2 under 5's. Table was ready and if needed highchair available. Service was great, the food was plentiful and high standard. Husband fell in love with the gravy. View menu

The food is well cooked ,hot , home style cooking , generous portions, although more chips Are always appreciated Have eaten here now several times , lovely service, very clean etc , my only gripe is the added on service charge !!! That you are not given the option to decline!! So why ask about the level of service etc you expected or actually received if your going to be charged for it regardless!!!! I think

The a la carte menu was very much typical pub menu food with a few Italian themed dishes. There was a specials menu which had slightly better choices but some unusual combinations of offerings. I thought the food was OK. Starters were better. The mains weren 't that great. ALL the food is massively over priced. The restaurant itself was down in numbers and no doubt because of the pricing. I doubt they get many returning customers as a result. The bar side was busier. Overall not great. It 's a nice looking place, I 'd go back there for a casual drink but I wouldn 't eat there again.

"Arrived a few minutes early at 3.15pm for our 3.30pm booking. Very warm welcome from blonde waitress at bar. Very quickly seated by dark haired waitress with glasses who wasn 't very friendly from the start. Pub was fairly busy on arrival but soon became pretty quiet, perhaps explaining our tail end of service poor experience. Wine list had to be chased as didn 't arrive. Drinks also had to be chased. Service to actually place our order had to be chased as we were seemingly abandoned after asking for a few minutes to chose our meals after being asked for our order only a couple of minutes after arrival. Further service had to be chased from our dead zone later in the meal. These were details only, very annoying but par for the course these days sadly. The main and more significant issue was the quality of the roast beef. Tough to the point that you could not cut it. Also delivered not as requested in terms of cooking so lots of back and forth to get our meat cooked as we had asked. Numerous veg were cold or luke warm. Several yorkshire pudding way beyond crisp to the point of being burnt. Excessive salt on majority of veg. Manageress arrived fairly quickly and was initially responsive but the experience at this stage was already hugely spoiled. Replacement food was much better but by that stage we had been put off the whole lunch and to reflect this were offered 2 glasses of wine and a portion of custard to compliment our dessert! This place has been unreliable since the start of the Giles ownership. The family attitude to customers is poor. We asked for the manager to review the bill to reflect the poor experience and ended up being passed a phone to talk to the manager who had gone home. This some 3 hours after we entered the pub due to the awful experience we had encountered."
