"What a beautiful place! Thanks to Craig the owner, simon the manager and there team making our short stay so enjoyable. We stayed for one night, turned up lunch time and sat out in the beautiful beer garden. Its got a outside bar which was great in the some with chickens just strolling around. The farm shop was well stocked with home made pies and sanwiches made at the hotel. The meal was fantastic, classics with a twist. After dinner we sat in the garden. Everyone was so friendly, great atmosphere, everyone where talking to each other, it was lovely. And then we sat in the bar and had a lovely evening with the staff and other guests This is a proper dog friendly hotel where dogs seem to be part of the experience. Thanks to Craig, you have a beautiful place and made out stay so welcoming."

Fantastic food, much better than your average pub meal. The pub is set in a lovely village right by the river esk and NYM railway. We will definitely be back.

It was a lovely day! I only had the coffee ice cream, but they also offer ice cream for dogs. The food being served looked delicious, though. I'll definitely be back! Thank you!

Popped in to see what it was like with a view to possibly booking a meal for the following evening. No one greeted me. Eventually found a menu, read it, looked in at various rooms with people in, but was ignored until I left, when I heard 'better go see what she wants... . Too late, will never return.

We stayed in our camper and enjoyed free power and water. The restrooms were open all night, which was a big plus. The setting was beautiful with plenty of walking trails nearby. To take advantage of the complimentary stay, we dined at the pub. Overall, I would rate the service and location as a perfect 5 out of 5. Hotel highlights: excellent value!

Wonderful find! Former coaching inn in a beautiful location in the North Yorks Moors. Owners staff were so welcoming. Rooms clean and efficient with a crowing cockerel providing the wake up call!! And where else could you share a few beers in the bar with locals, their dogs, and four Australians on the final leg of their coast to coast walk. A memorable stay on a visit to the NYMR’s 2023 steam gala. See you again in 2024!! Rooms: 4 View menu

**Rooms:** The room was spacious enough for us and the bathroom was excellent. **Safety:** We felt secure during our stay, and the view was delightful. There's also a shop on-site for convenience. **Walkability:** If you enjoy walking, there are plenty of lovely activities nearby, and the train station is close as well. **Food & Drinks:** The food was delicious, made with fresh, locally sourced ingredients. **Overall Room Rating:** 5/5

One of the best B&Bs on the Coast to Coast trail. We were sad to leave after our one night stay. The staff's ability to assure that their customers have a great time does not go unnoticed. From the welcome treats in our room to the delicious meals we had in the restaurant it was obvious that the culinary team cook from the heart. The beer garden was a welcoming sight upon our arrival as for some reason we overlooked this when we booked our stay. Hands down a fantastic place to stay (or grab a beer/wine/bite to eat) if you're ever in the area.

"The sheaf as it’s fondly known by locals is one of the many outstanding places to eat and drink the North Yorkshire moors national park has to offer. As with most popular and excellent places to eat no mater WHERE it is in the country booking is essential to avoid disappointment. The landlord doesn’t mess around and at Times can seem quite blunt, however this is all in aid of providing excellent food and service to his customers that have booked ahead and are ACTUALLY sat in his restaurant. It is a small pub with a small dining room so it can be difficult to accept walk in diners and it famously flatly refuses to serve “Gallon walkers” who can cause a unpleasant experience for family’s and take over the small but perfectly formed bar area. I have visited many times over the years and NEVER had a bad experience. Ignore winging reviewers, pick up the phone, book a table, turn up on time and enjoy a wonderful meal with good beer at a very reasonable price. If that’s too much to ask then please take your custom to one of the many other pubs and restaurants the national park has to offer, this place will still be full of locals and tourists alike enjoying a great meal. Note. I am absolutely not affiliated with the wheat sheaf or it’s owners in anyway. I am simply just tired of reading reviews from easily offended tourists slating the place which in turn may influence people and then them miss out on a genuinely excellent meal in a fantastic genuine countryside pub."
