"Pub is beautiful 15th century building and very cosy inside especially if you're next to the fire like we were. However, service from a particular female staff member was not just unprofessional unwelcoming but actively discouraged us from staying. Upon asking if we could get some food we were promptly informed it was impossible as all tables were booked, and there were categorically no cancellations. A quick browse of their online table booking system suggested otherwise, and we booked for an hour after arrival, meanwhile nabbing the premium seats next to said fireplace. When we came to order our booking was challenged, and when showing a confirmation email we were told it shouldn't have been possible as the system was down (it wasn't). The kitchen was closing in 45m but apparently it was imperative to check with the chef if he could accommodate 2 additional lunch orders, which he promptly did. Furthermore, some hours passed and many more tables became clear, however apparently ours was the one chosen for a new drinks booking in 30m time. The message was well and truly received and we promptly left, so I guess said staff member got their way after all."

Nice food amazing ancient pub, friendly, and great beer. Also a steep but circular walk up onto the downs then back for a beer and some tasty food in and ancient village.

Lovely, cozy, warm pub with high quality food, lots of history, and above all, one of the friendliest staffs of pubs I have visited! A good collection of beers on tap as well as bottled. Although the inside can be full and congested sometimes, there is ample space outside, including heated space. There is ample parking space too.

This remains a pub that gets the essentials right! Brilliant in Winter and summer Good local ales a must for any good review and an impressive menu with good veggie options. Mostly it gets the atmosphere thing right! Situated on a beautiful mini village, the fireside is one of the best in Sussex. Harvey’s every time. With ale being squeezed everywhere good it’s hanging on and thriving here! Enjoy!

The Juggs is my local pub and after hearing about a change in management I was interested to visit and give it another chance to be like the good old days. I went with another local friend at midday, there was only 2 other tables in the pub, 1 looked like they were just having drinks. My friend and I wanted to order some chips and two drinks, we were told very bluntly that because we didn't have a booking we couldn't order any food! Chips take about 5 minutes to make, you just chuck them in a fryer! Not to mention the pub was almost empty. Well, they lost out on our money and we went to the Abergavenny in Rodmell where we were warmly welcomed as walk-ins, had drinks and food. I'm glad they g...
