"This is a lovely place with a great atmosphere and attractive building. The style is nice, and there are various options for dining in the pub or the dining room, along with a good selection of drinks. However, the food was rather mediocre. The starters—calamari and halloumi—were clearly frozen and fried, lacking in quality. The chips were served cold and unappetizing, though they were replaced upon request. Is it really that difficult to get chips right in a fish and chip restaurant? The mussels were fairly good and were advertised as local, so hopefully they were. Perhaps my expectations were set too high, as I was hoping for better quality food. On a positive note, the service was friendly."

Recent lunchtime visit to the Anchor at Morston. Seriously poor attitude to service, fish was served cold and chips were inedible. Totally disappointing experience. Don’t bother with the Anchor, if you want good fish and chips, go to a proper fish restaurant, there’s plenty within a five mile radius. Cannot understand how the Anchor, under the same management at the Harper and the Langham Blue Bell can be so bad. Food: 1

Really pleasant and friendly staff, as far as a pub, couple of drinks and easy atmosphere, this is a nice place, good looking interior and well presented. If you’ve opted to visit here for food.. it’s not good. Virtually everything on the menu is battered!! As for the fish all I could taste is greasy batter not nice.. chips were like card board, and many what can only be described as scraggly off cut ends for £18 for cod fish chips, this is at the pricier end, which I’d be happy to pay if it the was. But this is by far the worst fish chips I can recall..

"Upon arrival we were greeted well and shown to our table. The establishment is very welcoming and the tables well presented and chairs are comfortable and in keeping with the vibrant and classy atmosphere of the venue. Service was good for drinks, and the menu was explained to us well and there was plenty to choose from both regular and special options very good selection from the children’s menu too. We opted for the soup starter which was beetroot soup, we’ve never actually seen that offered anywhere previously, so was worth a punt! My wife found the soup too rich but I really enjoyed it and I’d go as far to say it’s ONE OF THE BEST soups I’ve ever tasted. The staff enquired if all was ok and as my wife wasn’t so keen on the soup, they offered her a complimentary ham hock starter, which was also exceptional this was a nice touch, they didn’t need to do this, as the soup was fine just not to my wife’s taste, so bonus points there for empathy and customer service. For the mains, we both ordered the roasts (beef and pork respectively) and my daughter had sausages, chips and veg. My daughter really enjoyed the sausages, chips and isn’t generally keen on the veg but really liked the leeks and greens they must have been tasty, as she’s a very fussy eater as a four year old. The roasts were amazing and again ONE OF THE BEST we’ve had in a long time!! I’d sampled the beef as well as the pork and I cannot fault anything about these roasts, presented well, good portion sizes and tasty as anything. Gravy made to suite the meat being offered too and not some generic offering. We really enjoyed our ‘experience’ here and we really do recommend you visit and try for yourselves, this is a gem and the prices are very reasonable for what’s being offered here and the service is amazing. Now on to the bad points there were none, so nice and easy!!! Great work guys, keep up the great work, Gordon Ramsey would be proud of this place I suspect, if he were to complete one of his famous visits!!! Take care and see you again!!"
