"on a Sunday, did not seem very busy. we sat and our order took bark, burger and fish and chips. we waited for almost an hour to eat when it arrived. it wasn't very good. the menu says that the bark meat is served pink, which is good, but you could hardly cut it, the carrots and pancakes were so over boiled, they had up to nothing carrots tasteless piece of flower cabbage and piece of brokkoli all for! . I know that the prices have risen but at least cook properly. the teig on the fish and chips was burned, apparently the beer makes it a dark brown color! all in all very disappointing and will not return"

There were only of us late afternoon (booked) and at least of the Sunday Roast meals were tepid the time they were served. The meat was cooked well, in my opinion the roasted vegs were slightly overdone but the fresh was good.

this is the second time that we have visited the old ram and the atmosphere, service and eating are top notch. we both had the duo of pork today and it was perfectly cooked, beautifully presented and served with a delicious sauce. there is always an interesting selection to be. highly recommended.

A pre Christmas lunch with friends Luckily we were in no hurry and enjoyed chatting. If my husband and I had been on our own we would have left. The wait for our meal was unacceptable. I have given service a two due to the...wait. The staff were friendly and willing. Despite the wait. When it eventually arrived the food was good. Big portions.

The food was excellent , on several times of visiting lately the food and service have been excellent , The Gammon meal has been excellent and I have had the mutton on every visit s ,with it being so tasty . BUT I had the...lamb two ways , the taste was excellent but the portion of the shepherds pie was a ramekin size , this was so tiny and extremely disappointing for a main meal , it was a starter size and only with parsnips , there should have been a far larger portion for a main meal and lots more vegetables , I left hungry ,so very disappointed .

"Where do I even begin? The service from the woman behind the bar was shocking. When I inquired about dairy-free options for my son, I was told that nothing could be modified and that they don't cater to allergies at all! I pointed out the menu's claim that they could accommodate such needs, but my concerns were met with an eye roll. I then tried to order him some chips, but was told they were fried in the same oil as dairy and meat products, and since we are vegetarian, that wouldn't work. I asked about the vegan dishes, only to learn that they are also prepared alongside meat products, so there's no guarantee they would actually be vegan. At this point, my daughters had already become excited about eating out and the play area, so I reluctantly decided to go along with it and ordered three sandwiches on granary bread and a child's fish and chips. My son had a packet of crisps. When the sandwiches arrived, they were absolutely terrible. The cheese and onion sandwich consisted of two slices of cheap store-bought bread, some pre-grated cheese, and a few onion slices—without even a hint of butter! It certainly wasn’t inexpensive; we paid £45 for four soft drinks, three sandwiches, and a child's meal. As for the play area, it was concerning—there were sharp screws poking through the wood chips, loose sharp fixtures on top of the slide, and a large exposed electric cable under the swings! We decided to leave swiftly; it was such a disappointing way to end our holiday, when it should have been a lovely final meal before heading home. I was appalled by their attitude towards me—I felt like an inconvenience. The food was awful, and I genuinely recommend avoiding this place if you are vegan or have allergies; even if a dish is labeled vegan, they certainly don’t take the necessary precautions to keep it separate from meat products. It’s truly unfortunate, as the location by the river is beautiful, and we were all so excited to be there, but we left feeling very disappointed. We definitely won't be returning."
