"This is a pleasant little Hotel, although at first we had trouble finding the car park (its up the side and round the back. And we had abit of trouble finding the entrance. We thought with the Carpark being where it was at the back of the house, there might be an entrance to the hotel there also. There wasn't! After trying every back door in the heavy rain carrying suitcases we had to walk down the hill and around to the front of the house to find 2 doorways. Check in was swift and easy. Our room was lovely and warm and modern. The shower room looked as if it was recently refurbished. Towels were tired looking and thin, the bed was comfy enuf, but the pillows were flat and not up to much. Kettle tea bags etc an biscuits were good. The walls are very thin, we could hear ppl chatting in the next room. We stayed for dinner, it was nice but not worth £18 for fish chips, very over priced for pub grub quality! The service was good tho and quite speedy. The breakfast was included for our 1 night stay, I had a full Scottish breakfast, it was such a letdown as it wasn't freshly cooked, everything was reheated (microwaved) dry, the bacon was like cardboard, mushroom so dry they had shrivelled up and were like rubber. The potato scone was dry and stiff as a board, I couldn't cut it with a knife, nor the bacon. And talking about knives, the strangest shaped handles that were already awkward to use let alone trying to cut a stoating breakfast. The haggis black pudding was just a greasy flop on the plate. The poached egg was edable as it was cooked fresh. The orange juice was dilute juice. There was fresh fruit salad that was nice an Croissants too. For a visitor experiencing their first Scottish breakfast it was a real let down. All in all it was a cosy clean hotel, but not the cheapest for what we got, and I'd defo avoid the fry up ooft.. Also worth mentioning the front door of the hotel stays unlocked all night unstaffed, it felt abit unsafe as anyone can walk in from the street, even if there is a small camera, who's sitting up watching that all night? No one!.. So cosy room, but overpriced food horrible SCOTTISH breakfast fry up (with no toast) let this place down and spoiled my experience. I didn't complain as I couldn't do with the drama first thing in the morning. But I won't be returning."

Excellent hotel for good food, friendly staff and clean rooms. Will definitely be back. Great value for money. Only criticism was no bin for dog poo but recent storm seemingly carried it away.

After initial problems with original room, the staff member (guy with pony tail) was very helpful and got us a different room promptly. The bar is very relaxing with the fire on and the restaraunt food was amazing with quick service. Our new room was...

Hotel room was ok Food well overpriced in the restaurant, 3 scallops on a plate that were cold, my wife did complain and nothing was done about it. Breakfast was overcooked, no toast was offered, no croissants left either. We certainly won’t be back. Oh a small bottle of wine and a pint of lager was £19 (at least dick Turpin wore a mask)

We are visiting the area so weren’t too sure where to book for dinner and the Oyster Inn was the nearest to us. Booked a table by the fire in the bar and had the Christmas Dinner. Absolutely delicious. The staff were friendly and attentive and it had a lovely atmosphere in the bar with a good choice of lager and wines. Would definitely recommend.

We had no advanced reservation and turned up after a long walk hoping they had a table which thankfully they did. We had an excellent meal in the restaurant. Food was great, very flavoursome and very nicely presented too. Staff were attentive and diligent. All in all, we had a very pleasant experience combined with the view over the harbour at sunset.

What can I say, our welcome was from the lovely Lorraine, very welcoming. We had the room at the front with the picture window overlooking the loch with a comfy bed and very clean bathroom, the power in the shower to die for . The place was very warm and welcoming and the dinner and breakfast exceptional. When we visit Oban again we sure to stay again. Well worth the visit

Another good restaurant bites the dust. The Oyster Inn used to be all about well cooked honest food at a reasonable (for a tourist area) price. Sorry to report that pretensions have taken over, where there was once a great Steak Pie, there are now Textures of Beetroot , great whole fish have been replaced by about an inch of 'Stone Bass ' whatever that is, for a bit under £30.00 . You could eat cheaper and have a slice of cauliflower for just under £20.00, sauces are bland, micro herbs are everywhere. It 's like someone read a Jamie Oliver cookbook several years ago and then tried to put dishes together. The word soup is possibly the most digestible part of the menu.

Really disappointed stay after travelling from Mull, looking forward to a nice restaurant meal and overnight stay. Room 18 was cold and tatty overlooking the car park at the rear of the property. Restaurant was closed we were allocated a table in the bar right in front of a huge TV whereby everyone was watching the football, decided this table was not for us and offered to wait, then allocated a table In front of a smaller TV again felt like we were being watched whilst eating our meal. Moved as soon as we had eaten. If restaurant is not open should have been notified, totally different menu, not half the selection viewed on the website. One the plus side good hot water for a shower.

Firstly with the construction work we got a bit lost from the rear carpark and ended up within the work area, clear direction required and the rear entrance to works closed off better. Staff were great, very friendly and attentive. We decided to pass on the food as the prices were just astronomical, instead got a takeaway from Marmaris in Oban which was lovely and they deliver. We didn't get a great night's sleep as the mattress felt old and tired, tossing and turning all night. The bathroom was also like a sauna even with the heating off and being a wet room water went all over the toilet area which wasn't ideal if you weren't having a shower. We passed on breakfast and headed off to work....

"We booked this restaurant after reading the reviews while touring Scotland what a disappointment. When we arrived we were shown to a table straight behind the door and as it kept opening and shutting it blew a massive amount of cold air in. As both parents and staff allowed 2 young children to go in and out every few minutes it got a bit much. We were given the menu and told specials were on the board. No description or recommendation. Also they did not say the board also goes over the top of the fish on didplay. I had crab claws to start the mayonnaise was lovely and what I could get out of the claws was nice but I was given no instruments to get into the claws and they were not broken enough for them to just pull out. I ordered the turbut for main as did my husband it was a small fillet with the skin correctly removed but it was loaded with garlic butter sauce you couldn't taste the fish for the garlic. Also which was worse I don't know what they did to the top of it but it was yellow and like thin rubber. We had to peel it off it was not good. I didn't complain at the time because I am not used to having a fillet of turbut. When I have had it before my husband and I have shared a turbut presented whole at the table. I have only written this today after speaking to some friends who said i should put something on because there had to be something wrong for the top of the fish to be yellow and leathery. You might guess but I won't be going back."
