"The pub and staff were pleasant. The menu is uninspiring. The food is below par. I ordered a New York burger that comes with the promise of bacon, cheese, burger sauce additions. Although all of these were present, they were of a very sad, dried out, depressing appearance. The burger patty itself, an item which with no formal culinary training whatsoever, I would consider quite easy to make well, was thin, dry and tasteless. The chips accompanying were, however, lovely. I had dessert purely and simply because I was enjoying spending time with my friend. What arrived really wasn’t worth the bother. The spotted Dick was a grey spongy mound that I’m almost sure had been zapped in a microwave to a blistering temperature. Sadly, overall, the food presented itself as that prepared at convenience, without any care, expertise or taste. It smacked of pre-prepared corporate rubbish. On the plus side, it was cheap. My verdict- go to harvester. At least it is not pretending to be something better."

The food and service at this restaurant were excellent. I highly recommend it. The prices are reasonable and the restaurant is very clean. The staff was prompt and friendly, and the sundaes were a real treat.

I had an amazing Sunday lunch at this pub. The standout feature of this place is the staff. They are all very friendly, extremely polite, and efficient with taking orders. Deanna served us and we couldn't have asked for a better experience. I will definitely be coming back. View menu

I was here for a meal with family members. The Plough is a nice looking pub and the food is on the whole good and you get large portions. I think waiting staff could give customers steak knives for people having steak and not be asked about this. Chicken, burgers, fish and chips are all good but the Rump Steak is tough and chewy burnt on the outside and raw in the middle.

Been coming here as a regular for 25 years. Booked a meal for two a week in advance and requested a specific table. Arrived bang on time and was told they gave the table to someone else who claimed to come here often. I don’t think I have ever seen them I the village before, let alone in the pub. Frankly this is not good enough. Set the tone for the evening. Couldn’t wIt to get out.

My wife I had a great time at The Plough a couple of days ago. The staff were very pleasant and helpful. The menu had everything on it that we could have wanted we were spoilt for choice, from starters to mains, to deserts and the prices were reasonable compared to the local competition. There was nothing wrong with the food and the atmosphere was fine. Would highly recommend it when asked, I was told that you need to book for Sunday lunches, it is that popular! Would highly recommend it. View menu

The Plough is my local pub and I typically don't like to leave negative reviews, but I have to say that the food here has been very inconsistent lately. The fish and chips used to be a good choice, but the portion sizes have decreased significantly and now there is more batter than fish. The chicken and ham pie I had yesterday was decent, but the mashed potatoes were dense, the gravy was overly thick, and the vegetables were overcooked. With so many pubs closing down, The Plough really needs to improve their food quality and hire a skilled chef in the kitchen.

nice clean pub, excellent service from liam attentive and concise. we ordered the liver bacon special me and my partner it was delicious melted in our mouths and very presentable... this would be 5* star review but the atmosphere let it down for us the manager on duty abruptly stormed downstairs when a server asked them a question, slammed the door to the cellar this was all in view as we was facing the drama unfolding, set a really bad vibe from that moment on you could feel a negative atmosphere between all the servers out front.... If we wanted to watch this we'd of ordered a take-away and put Corrie or EastEnders on the telly... Very unprofessional of the manager and the matter should be...

"A slightly bizarre experience we were welcomed warmly, taken to our table, and given a menu for pre dinner drinks. No food menus were brought. We ordered drinks, which arrived, but still no menus! So we asked for them. No wine list brought. So we asked for one. All rather odd. The starters were mixed a bland crab risotto, a rather vinegary tartare, an excellent parfait and a crispy egg which needed to be runnier, but was tasty, if too salty. The odd service continued: three of the four of us had finished do the waiter cleared our plates including the one of our friend who hadn’t finished, who was left holding a cracker in her hand! The mains were again mixed and generally over salty. The ravioli were excellent; the steak good but in a sauce which was heavy handed on the seasoning, the fish pleasant, again slightly salty and verging on the overcooked. We had chocolate soufflé for pudding generally well made and tasty, but again the service was odd an ice cream was pushed into it at the table by the waiter which caused a good amount of soufflé to fall inelegantly onto the serving plate; the cheese plate was an interesting but small selection of well kept cheese. Good petit fours (though we were surprised that one containing nuts was offered to us all despite one of us not eating nuts, which we had mentioned). So probably four stars over all, but only just. It’s good to see the restaurant open again but based on this experience, while it’s fine dining, it’s got some way to go to reach the standard of cooking I’m sure they’d like to aspire to."
