"The location of this restaurant is fantastic. We originally planned to dock at the Hardley Drainage Mill, but it was full when we arrived. We decided to stop here instead so we could access electricity, as the BA moorings further down the river do not have power. We enjoyed a few drinks and stayed here for the evening. The staff were very friendly and helped us with an electricity card. Unfortunately, I had a mishap outside (entirely my fault - I tripped and broke my wrist, and I was completely sober!), but the staff were incredibly helpful in ensuring I received care and that our boat was looked after until we returned from the hospital. We were truly grateful for their kindness. Thank you!"

The restaurant is poorly maintained and in need of an urgent upgrade. The service and atmosphere both received a rating of 1.

We stumbled upon a unique pub with slightly quirky staff and patrons. The establishment had a simple decor, but the staff were welcoming and the beer selection was impressive. Rating: Service 3, Atmosphere 2. View menu

Moored here one lunchtime whilst sailing (how posh! . Had a couple of drinks and the ploughman's lunch. The food was tasty and the pub was not stingy with the quantity. A great pub if you are out for the day. The staff we met were helpful and courteous. I will happily eat and drink here again. Price per person: £20–30 Food: 5 Service: 5 Atmosphere: 5

We visited three pubs by bicycle in the Cantley Strumpshaw area. One a lovely old pub by the river. The next one a major food factory in Cantley and the last a nice village pub but too expensive in Strumpshaw. The Reedcutters for us wins hands down. It 's most certainly a take us as you find us pub but the staff and the friendly locals make this a proper pub and probably the only one we 'd want to go back to. We didn 't get to experience their food but we 'll be going back to give that a try. Service: 5 Atmosphere: 5

"Where do I even begin? The service from the woman behind the bar was shocking. When I inquired about dairy-free options for my son, I was told that nothing could be modified and that they don't cater to allergies at all! I pointed out the menu's claim that they could accommodate such needs, but my concerns were met with an eye roll. I then tried to order him some chips, but was told they were fried in the same oil as dairy and meat products, and since we are vegetarian, that wouldn't work. I asked about the vegan dishes, only to learn that they are also prepared alongside meat products, so there's no guarantee they would actually be vegan. At this point, my daughters had already become excited about eating out and the play area, so I reluctantly decided to go along with it and ordered three sandwiches on granary bread and a child's fish and chips. My son had a packet of crisps. When the sandwiches arrived, they were absolutely terrible. The cheese and onion sandwich consisted of two slices of cheap store-bought bread, some pre-grated cheese, and a few onion slices—without even a hint of butter! It certainly wasn’t inexpensive; we paid £45 for four soft drinks, three sandwiches, and a child's meal. As for the play area, it was concerning—there were sharp screws poking through the wood chips, loose sharp fixtures on top of the slide, and a large exposed electric cable under the swings! We decided to leave swiftly; it was such a disappointing way to end our holiday, when it should have been a lovely final meal before heading home. I was appalled by their attitude towards me—I felt like an inconvenience. The food was awful, and I genuinely recommend avoiding this place if you are vegan or have allergies; even if a dish is labeled vegan, they certainly don’t take the necessary precautions to keep it separate from meat products. It’s truly unfortunate, as the location by the river is beautiful, and we were all so excited to be there, but we left feeling very disappointed. We definitely won't be returning."
