"Stayed at the campsite here it was lovely nice small adults only site it was just perfect . Some gorgeous walks from the site along the canal and onto the sandstone trail .. sat in the beer garden on the side of the canal both nights with our two dogs and it was so beautiful . Everyone really friendly and a decent price for drinks too .. only one little thing which is a negative which isn’t really the sites fault but dogs are suppose to be on leads at all times but some people don’t think this applies to them which is a little annoying when our dogs are tied up and then another dog wanders over to our pitch and causes our dogs to get excited and we are trying to just have a nice sit down .. facilities are good will definitely be back !!!!"

We were on a canal trip planned to stop at this pub for evening meal we rang ahead to book a table and to our disgust we was confronted by a very rude person, whose response was we stop serving food at 7:15 followed by the phone put straight down

Lovely pub in a perfect setting on the canal wonderful for a leisurely meal and drink in the sun , food was excellent and we’ve already made our mind up on when to return its a free house so plenty of beers to choose from and the staff are a credit to the place

The filet au fish put McDonalds to shame (and I love a cheeky McDonalds! . Hubby wasn’t particularly hungry but fancied a toastie. Only cheese tomato on the menu but they happily made him a cheese onion. Dog friendly throughout and a lovely welcome from the staff.

As a group of cyclists we wanted to avoid a downpour today and The Shady Oak opened its doors to us earlier than usual. All the staff and lady Manager were very accommodating and friendly whilst we all sat and enjoyed the quality refreshments. Will definitely go back. Thank you !

Glad to see this canalside pub back to the good old days. Now renamed The Shady and recently reopened we had heard good reviews by fellow boaters so thought we would give it a try. Very nice. Food was excellent and so was the service. Lots of boaters have also moored outside tonight so the good news is spreading fast.

Lovely site on the canal side and a great reception by the staff. My wife chose roast turkey and I chose roast pork. We were then told Yorkshire pudding were extra! When the plate arrived there was no cranberry sauce with the turkey and no apple sauce with the pork. We were very disappointed but the food did taste good though.

"I booked a table for 2 really last minute on a busy December night, piccolio’s manger cosimo took the booking, he was so friendly and helpful that we really needed after a hard work in the cold winter weather! we went in and the restaurants that were breathtaking have woken us! the decor is stylish and above all it was so warm and cozy what we needed, we were greeted with smiles all around by every worker and was immediately taken on our table, without waiting time what ever! we were so swollen! Shortly after we sat, we tamara welcomed them beautiful, well presented and extremely polite. we thought up the menu, while tamara served us the most delicious Rosè Prosecco and took our orders. it was a hard choice, as we wanted to order one of all, the menu choices sound exquisite! so much choice and catering for all food requirements. my own and my friend decided to go for the spaghetti frutti di mare, which was absolutely inconceivable! muddle, mush and calamari topped with a huge garlic king prawn! it didn't take long until there were two empty teller and full bell! we stayed and talked together about the life and there was no hurry to move us from table to tamara has checked us we were so glad to have chosen piccolino chester for our girly dinner date and just wanted to say a massive thank you to cosimo, tamara and the piccolino team. I can't wait to come back to another fantastic evening."
