"My first visit to the Severn Valley Railway was yesterday, and after checking the timetable and station stops, I decided to stop for lunch at The Ship Inn since it was conveniently located. I booked ahead due to it being a Bank Holiday weekend. The location of the restaurant overlooking the Severn was great, although there was a short steep path down from the station. I noticed that the area in front of the pub was fenced off for exterior work following a fire last year, which had destroyed the decking and damaged part of the building. Despite this, the interior of the pub was impressive and nicely furnished, including the refurbished restrooms. Instead of ordering from the menu, I couldn't resist the sight of the Sunday carvery, which turned out to be excellent. The prices for the food were very reasonable. I would definitely return to The Ship Inn, especially since my SVR Freedom Of The Line day ticket came with a voucher for a second trip within the next twelve months. Luckily, Kidderminster station is just a one-hour drive from my home. Next time, I'll be sure to save room for dessert."

Not even visited and the service is awful. Try to book and no answer to emails or phone and landlady just rude. Steer clear!!

My wife and I had beef lasagne, garlic bread and mixed salad. Very generous portions of lasagne which were very tasty. Only minor downside we had to wait half an hour for food after placing order, despite pub not being that busy.

This fantastic neighborhood pub is welcoming to both dogs and their owners. The food, prepared by a talented chef, is outstanding with high-quality, freshly made dishes. The local beers on tap are well maintained, and the staff is very attentive and accommodating. View menu

Visiting friends in Bewdley in the afternoon, we wanted to find somewhere fairly local for a Sunday carvery. The Ship ticked all the boxes, lovely meal with choice of SIX meats; we both had turkey and ham. All vegetables cooked to perfection. Can thoroughly recommend this restaurant.

We visited in January to visit family in the area. Katsina, and her team catered for all our needs from the start of our stay to the very in nothing was too much to ask for her team was very polite and professional ensuring we had a fantastic stay I would highly recommend this place to stay at. Lastly we ate most things off their menu but the rib eye steak and the carvery was out of this world best I have had to date. Just look at that steak 10/10 service

Located on the banks of the River Severn, this pub offers a stunning setting for enjoying a drink outside by the water. The standout dish here is definitely the chips, which are perfectly crispy on the outside and fluffy on the inside. The menu offers a variety of tasty options that won't break the bank, and there is a good selection of ales and ciders to choose from. Bonus points for the proximity to the Severn Valley Railway, just a minute's walk away via a footpath. View menu

The food here was excellent with large portion sizes and prices are very reasonable. We especially enjoyed the home made coleslaw! If you order the large fish and chips, make sure you 're hungry as it 's huge! The staff here were very welcoming and friendly and the pub is dog friendly too. . There was a little 'blip ' with our order which meant 2 of our party had to wait longer than the rest of us for their meals. However, the waitress apologised for the error and the delay. She then offered to take some money off our bill to compensate so this didn 't spoil our evening whatsoever. We would definitely eat here again if we were to return to this area.

WOW!! We have just (today) returned from a weekend in this wonderful pub/hotel. Our friends booked this as a gift as they have been before. This has to be one of these gifts ever. Right!!! Food , Michelin star worthy, place , views to die for right on the river, staff ALL of them made our weekend.Rooms, comfortable , waking to birdsong beautiful heavenly. We seriously can’t wait to go back I have never felt so relaxed. To top it all we walked up behind the hotel to find we could go on an old steam train. The child in me and my friends came to play. Absolutely bliss. I have NEVER felt so stress free ever. Can’t believe they produce such excellent food and drink so cheaply. Go people before th...

"Beautifull hotel, I guess one can call it trendy , but I just don 't understand how they can justify the price £130/night and that most of the time will go to £160 as they run out of entry level ones. So I guess the answer is there because people pay for it! But let 's just make some relevant comparisons Birmingham Grand literally in the heart of the city, brand new, 5* hotel, with all recently decorated rooms to the highest standard is £135 15 for breakfast. Needless to say rooms are air conditioned, fully equipped and genuinelly very posh. Hotel has lifts, has porters and the service is top notch. The Lion is barelly 4* just for trendiness alone, but the actual quality of furnishing is closer to 3*, has no lift and you will be lugging your bags up and down mutiple flights of stairs (and I mean multiple like 8 going up and down) trought narrow corridors to mediocre room (nothing wrong with it just mediocre) which isn 't even air conditioned. Sorry, I just don 't get it. That said restaurant is good fully fine dining if you are into it. Althought in my oppinion it doesn 't fit into the rest of the hotel. So it is ~3.5* hotel which is very youghtfull and trendy and then you get 5* fine dining with very tiny portions for the dinner (which is not criticism of restaurant, it is very good on it 's own). In conclussion I just don 't get what niche this hotel is filling, who stays there and why. The price for the rooms should be £75 95 tops. Shreesbury is not exactly prime tourists destination either (at least shouldn 't). But it seems it is working out for them, I just would not recommend it, I would not stay in it again and it is definatelly not worth the price. Neither in isolation, nor in comparison."

"Open since 1970 and located on Mardol, one of Shrewsbury’s oldest streets @thecurryhouseshrewsbury serves locally sourced ingredients married with traditional spices and chillies from the Indian subcontinent, a match made in heaven. 5 5 Recommended Price No better way to kick off proceedings but with popadoms, chutneys and fresh onion salad. On to appetisers and there are so many tempting dishes to choose with many of these exclusive to the curry house. Our first time trying Pani Puri. A sweet and spicy hot street food snack filled with chickpeas and tamarind sat on a bed of crunchy, nutty Bombay mix. With a building but pleasant heat, definitely something everyone should try. The quality and freshness of the seafood was exceptional. Spicy king prawns were huge and cooked to perfection. Charred on the outside for flavour but juicy and meaty. Trio of King scallops were beautifully tender and of a good size with sweetness from the tamarind liquor. Lamb rogan Josh tender lamb shoulder in a medium hot ginger tomato and onion sauce. A strong take on a traditional favourite of ours. Fresh from the Tandoor a generous mix of marinaded chicken, lamb, king prawns and a chargrilled lamb chop. The Tandoori deluxe massalla sauce was the perfect blend of sweetness melting into a subtle heat which brought the dish together perfectly. The curry house takes traditional dishes and flavours from the Indian subcontinent and elevates them to a level beyond expectations. Thank you for our invite to share the exciting menu created with passion and creativity.
