"Faultless! Best Sunday roast to date. And we’ve been for A LOT! The meet and greet was spot on (we didn’t book but they accommodated us), the attention to detail was second to none, it’s clear that this is a well-run business, the toilets (according to my wife) are as they would be at home, quote “home from home and I actually sat on the seat” (lol). We both had the lamb and it was actually amazing. Perfect portion size, veg cooked just lovely and a massive credit to Theo who was ever so attentive. We are far from local but we are already planning our return."

Great, helpful friendly service and its dog friendly! If you like a “proper” cosy English pub with an open log fire and excellent food then give The Star a visit. Ps the pies are delicious and really filling no nouvelle cuisine mullarky here!

We visited this pub for a very late lunch yesterday and the staff were so lovely to keep the kitchen open for us. The food was absolutely fantastic and the service was great! I can’t recommend this pub enough. Can’t wait to go back Very reasonably priced too!!

Today Jay, Jackie and the team went above and beyond and made a young ladies 11th birthday so very special. Thank you so much for a lovely afternoon tea. We all had a fabulous time. The fact that you did it for free was an amazing gesture. You are such lovely people. Thank you so much.

The Star is my idea of a perfect British pub, warm, inviting and very friendly staff. Called there for Sunday lunch on the way back to Whitstable. I had chicken and my wife pork and we both agreed that it was first class and for me the best Sunday pub lunch I have experienced. Beautifully cooked with generous portions. Dog friendly.

We choose the Star Inn due to its handy location 'halfway ' between ourselves and our friends. Immediately felt welcome with the friendly bar staff and our table was made available before our 'sit down ' time. The staff were exemplary throughout our visit and the food was plentiful and tasty. We 'll definitely be back. Keep up the good work.

We came up this way to walk the dogs at the nature reserve. We booked this for after the walk. We were thrilled with the outstanding service as it was very busy, also dogs allowed. Staff friendly and we ordered 3 roast beef and one pork belly. Excellent; We couldn't fault it, so tasty and good value too. Shame that it's an hour away but definitely recommend this place 5

The four of us attended The Star for a birthday dinner. We started well with tea and coffee, it was a cold December day and chatting while the log fire was lit near our table. The key to a good visit is friendly, helpful staff and we were not disappointed. For lunch three of us had turkey with all circumcisions, the other had turkey pie: all meals were absolutely delicious. A spicy apple crumble followed. We were all wondering how we didn't discover this gem of a pub sooner.

"Firstly I would like to say that this restaurant has just been refurbished, and it didn’t feel like an Italian restaurant, more like a cafe at the beach somewhere! It felt very sparse and most Italian restaurants I e been to have proper tablecloths on the table but these were plastic and I noticed one table it was tapped up underneath, in my opinion it needs to be made more warmly and have more of a family feel. The food was really nice, although I would advise anyone to make sure they double check their order as I chose chicken in a sauce really nice which came with vegetables but I also asked for a separate portion of potatoes, when it arrived I just had chicken with a few cut up potatoes and a very very small garnish of salad ! I mentioned this to the waitress who had taken our order and she said I know but the chef had given you extra salad !! Sorry but salad is not vegetables , it clearly said on the menu it came with vegetables. Having said about the above issue, the meals we all had were nice and the staff gave us a very warm welcome and because of the blip they said we could have a free pudding…..not sure if we all did or it was just mine but I never see the bill as we were treated to this. To finish the evening off we were given a lovely limoncello shot. We would definitely go back. Thankyou for a lovely evening in your restaurant"

"Popped in for a late lunch with my wife and sat in the garden in the sunshine. Friendly bar staff. Both had the mussels starters which were ok and the bread was nice. My wife had the surf and turf main, priced at £40, which...surely would deliver at that price. Sadly not. The lobster was ok but the steak, cooked rare as requested, was grey, under seasoned and tasteless. She didn't finish it and didn't even bother asking for a doggy bag. She felt it was the worst steak she had ever eaten. I went for the chicken fajitas which arrived sizzling on a platter. The chicken was dry, massively under seasoned and the red peppers and onions weren't cooked properly. The salad I didn't even touch as it was so painfully boring to look at. My three tortillas were like cardboard and I ate just half of one and then gave up. Chips were only randomly cooked through so we both left most of those also. We gave feedback to the waitress when she cleared the table and went to pay. Whilst paying at the bar the licensee went behind the bar without acknowledging us in the slightest and told the lady taking our payment to take the fajitas off the bill. No apology; not even the time of day was paid to us. He even said to her tell them the fajitas have been taken off the bill'...why on earth he couldn't tell us directly is beyond me! It was rude beyond belief. We paid and left. Over the years we have been to many carvers, seafood evenings and meals out with family and friends at The Black Horse. I will never step through the door again and waste my money. I will do my utmost to make sure that anyone who asks why will learn the truth. What a dreadful experience!"
