"We were hesitant to visit this restaurant due to negative reviews, but since it was the only pub in the village, we decided to give it a try. Unfortunately, we were extremely disappointed. The pub had a charming appearance, but lacked any atmosphere or soul. The staff, including a seemingly unfriendly older woman behind the bar and a chef who appeared disinterested, did not add to the experience. The food was clearly frozen, as the pie was bland with watery gravy and the mashed potatoes tasted like they came from a packet. The salad on my husband's plate was limp. Despite a good selection of beer, we were the only customers in the pub. We paid our bill and quickly left. Overall, we would recommend avoiding this place."

Nice welcome from Staff. Had a very good Sunday lunch. Restaurant has recently been upgraded to a very good standard.

On a wet cold afternoon we had a few drinks. If you wanted to watch the rugby you had a fire if not .... Very average choice of drinks and decor wouldn’t rush back.

We ate here whilst staying at Plas Farm Touring Park. It is about a ten minute walk from the site. Food was lovely and staff were very friendly and helpful. We would return if staying in the area. View menu

We received a warm welcome and enjoyed a delicious meal in a peaceful setting at The Wheatsheaf. The dishes we ordered were cooked to perfection and beautifully plated, with the pie being a particular favorite of my husband's.

whilst staying in village we were pleased to find a real country pub. Had a good meal and drinks and food very reasonably priced. One of the locals had his dog Reg in the pub and they should get on Britain's Got Talent with their tricks. Everyone very friendly. Will definitely go back.

Good little pub in the middle of the village. Limited beer selection with a few ciders and lagers. I had liver and bacon casserole which was really good and my wife had the pie option which she enjoyed. Has a good garden for the summer but it was definitely inside weather when we visited and they had 2 log fires burning whilst we were there. Lovely church opposite. View menu

We were staying nearby on holiday and decided to eat here one evening. The greeting on arrival could have been more friendly from the staff but we did not let this deter us. We ordered some food and had to wait a while for it to be served. It was nice food and we followed it with dessert. The pub was a little sparse, not very welcoming, which was probably why it wasn't busy.

Just had a Sunday lunch and I can't see what all the negative reviews are about. I get it that each visit is individual but the staff are very welcoming and the food it's great. We had the leg of lamb which just melted in your mouth along with various vegetables. It was all cooked to perfection. We also had our bestest boy Archie with us (he's a dog lol) who was very pleased with the treats from Debbie. The beer garden is a little sun trap (providing the weather plays ball, you can't blame the pub for that) and it's located in a lovely country village setting.

"Whenever I get the inclination to write a review it’s usually because it’s so good and I want to shout about my experience to everyone… however this is not my usual 5* recommendation! As locals we have visited this cafe on a few occasions for breakfast or a coffee stop. It’s a great location, nice decor, dog friendly and delicious food. What’s not to like? Well, the staff, or more specifically the owner! She lacks any customer service skills, she smiles through gritted teeth, orders her staff around while she stands observing (or waiting for an argument . Each time we’ve visited she’s had an issue with something. Once she argued with me because I asked for my latte to be served in a cup rather than a tall glass. She proceeded to try and educate me on coffee making (I’m barista trained ! She reluctantly gave me it to me in a mug with a jug of extra milk which wouldn’t fit into the mug anyway! More recently we arrived, it was quiet, and chose to sit in the window (the largest table as we had our dog and didn’t want him to be in the way. She rushed over and demanded we sat at another table because she “couldn’t afford for us to take up a larger table”. We moved without an issue but she was very confrontational (as always and made the rest of our dining experience uncomfortable. So uncomfortable in fact that despite being ravenous we almost didn’t order. The cafe remained quiet throughout our time there, plenty of empty tables and yet she proceeded to use the larger window table to accommodate her staff, herself and a friend who popped in. How is that fair? So my advice to you as a fellow catering/ hospitality manager is… Learn from your Trip Advisor feedback, Book yourself on a free customer service course and lead by example and if you are worried about costs reduce the number of staff. 5 staff on duty in a cafe that seats approx 25 people at full capacity is not needed. Maybe the owner should put her feet up at home and let the lovely younger people do their thing. They all look so nervous around her and are almost too afraid to speak. I’m sure they’d do a far better job without her monitoring their every move. Even the Chef (her husband maybe? looks petrified of her!! Certain people are not cut out for customer facing roles and she is one of them! I’m pretty sure she doesn’t read any of these reviews as she’s been like this since my first visit 5 years ago!! What a shame. This place could be a thriving business and a welcoming village cafe but I’m sure her confrontational attitude and unwelcoming nature put people off from returning. Such a shame as the food and coffee are delightful"
