"This review reflects the opinions of five people who dined at The White Hart for Sunday lunch on December 17, 2023. Four members of the group are regular walkers and have experienced food and drinks at various country pubs. Despite usually only stopping for a beer during walks in Iron Acton, they decided to try the food at The White Hart and were blown away by the quality and size of the Sunday lunch for £13.95. The beef, usually served medium rare, was cooked to perfection according to their preference. The vegetables were also cooked just right, with plenty of flavor and texture. The homemade Yorkshire puddings were a highlight as well. The group also enjoyed the Butcombe beer, which was well-kept and served perfectly. The service at the bar and table was excellent. Overall, they highly recommend The White Hart for Sunday lunch and look forward to dining there again in the future."

Food was over cooked. Gammon steak was dry. Pineapple inedible. Battered fish and chips left in fryer too long. Coffee was burning hot.

We recently dined at The White Hart for our family Christmas meal, and we all enjoyed the Christmas Set Menu. The food was delicious with generous portion sizes. The staff were very friendly, and we definitely plan to visit again!

Not a good experience we had the Sunday roast, tinned carrots, rock hard potatoes and the one person that had a burger had to have it rare and apparently that’s how the chef cooks it. I asked for a refund of the burger and the waitress came over with an attitude like thunder because I didn’t want my nephew to eat raw meat, give this place a wide birth! View menu

We were recommended this pub by our Air b&b host . Great recommendation. Very quiet little pub which we aren't used to but very nice and welcoming. Staff very friendly and service was spot on. We had the scotch egg which was lovely and warm with a soft middle, huge portion for a starter ! The lamb was so lovely and tender , nice size portion was very suprised ! My partner enjoyed his goats cheese tart .. Had no room for dessert. Thank you for a lovely meal!

We visited a nice-looking pub restaurant with a good car park and pleasant surroundings inside. The staff were friendly and there was a great selection of real ales. However, our meal was disappointing. Three of us ordered roast lamb and one ordered roast beef. The vegetables were lacking, with the roast potatoes overcooked and tasteless, and the carrots seemed to be from a can. The meat was tough and difficult to cut. None of us opted for dessert, so we can't comment on that. Overall, the poor quality of the meal means we won't be returning to this restaurant.

If you have been considering visiting The White Hart at Iron Acton for a meal, forget it. This Public House is an absolute disgrace, we visited recently for a Birthday celebration, the place was full of drunks, the landlady came to our table poorly dressed and stinking of cigarettes. The starters arrived, one of the party had the scotch egg, three of the party tasted it and it was deffinatatly off, smelt and tasted bad. When we informed the landlady there was not even an apology just got aggressive about it. The mains were very poor also and being a Greene King pub they should be taking the Blue Light card but they refused to take it and give us the 20% discount. Really don't go there, we fe... Came for Sunday lunch, best thing was cauliflower cheese!Trio of roasts turned out to be tough beef x 2 pork. Carrots tasted frozen, kale not cooked although parsnips roast potatoes nice. Considering local green grocer provides veg opportunity to impress missed as veg was terrible. Veg option of mushroom, cranberry Brie Wellington was lovely have to say. Yorkshire pudding was massive but burnt so did get a replacement, don’t usually bother but after tasting veg thought I needed to! The scampi, battered cod, plaice sea bass all ok but veg either over or under cooked. Fish worth ordering unfortunately not Sunday roasts. Service quite slow, nice not to be hurried but the pub not busy. Quite dar...

We have recently just rediscovered this pub and really like it. However, today we popped in for a few games of pool and were having a lovely time until a group of older people in the corner started using racist slurs so the rest of the pub could hear. I confronted them and was told they were ‘just being honest’ and then they tried to back track and said they had been talking about their dog (the racist slur rhymes with dog, so this was VERY clever of them). Unfortunately for them I had heard them loud and clear, and they had also repeatedly referred to someone as a black b . My complaint is that there was no management present and this behaviour was allowed to go unchecked I don’t want to dr...

"Went for an impromptu meal with her indoors, as this was a local pub we've not been in for a long time we thought will pop in. Greeted by an over enthusiastic bar person who was dragging out the empties from the night before, ordered a couple of drinks and we sat down with the menu's, after perusing the menu we were ready to order, at the same time we were ready a regular couple walked in and sat at there regular table and oredered there regular meal, but the regular gentleman actually wanted an extra sausage with his sausage and chips, well! The kerfuffle this caused was astronomical, this conversation went on for Many many minutes, my wife and I was desperately trying to catch her attention to have another drink, eventually my wife went to the bar and waited, we got served eventually. Then our food came out of the kitchen, we went for the light bites as we were in a snacky mood, Chicken strips Mozzarella bites Chips with curry sauce and nachos. We never got the nachos as there was no guacamole BTW Chips came out which were actually fries, covered in this sauce, gross, then we had 3 chicken strips with no garnish £4.95 £1.63 each Then 4 mozzarella bites came out, no, nothing else just 4 mozzarella bites, £4.95 £1.24 each. So if you want have your pants pulled down and be robbed of your hard earned cash then this is the place to go, as for me and my wife we won't be. We did mention the poor quality and value for money but it was brushed under the dirty carpet and she was going to feed our comments back to the kitchen."

"I was excited to revisit the New Inn after many years, as it used to be a favorite spot of mine. My group of 8 had pre-ordered at the request of the New Inn, but we were told 15 minutes after our booking time that our food was just being prepared. An hour later, our food still hadn't been served. After checking with the staff, the manager assured us that our order was next. Another 10 minutes passed before our food finally arrived. The gammon came with sides that we didn't like and were not mentioned on the menu. The portions were oversized, which was nice, but they were too much and off-putting. The salad trimmings were of poor quality. The fish in batter was enjoyed by those who ordered it. The main meals were okay, but I would have preferred better quality over quantity. We had to chase the staff for a glass of water, and even after being offered dessert menus, no one came to take our order. When we decided to follow up at the bar, the manager seemed more interested in finding out which staff member had failed to take our order than in solving the issue. The service was okay but could have been better, as no one checked on us after our meals were served. It seems like the staff could benefit from more positive training from a supportive mentor. When we asked for the bill, it took a while for it to be brought to us, so we ended up paying on the way out. It's a shame, as I had fond memories of the New Inn, but I am unlikely to return after this experience."
