"Vito’s Italian had been on my ever-growing list of Restaurants to try for a while, so it was a welcomed nudge when Vito invited me to come and try what he describes as authentic Italian food. Being Italian himself, and heavily involved in all parts of the restaurant, the passion that Vito has for food really comes across in the dishes served here. The restaurant had a warm, open feeling to it and the bar area feels a little rustic. Our waiter was very friendly and tentative which I love about proper Italian restaurants, the staff always want to make you feel welcome as soon as you walk in. The specials board that evening included a lot of seafood so I didn’t choose from it this time but I do love seeing a specials board! The menu itself is vast so it took me a while to choose what I wanted, but it’s great to see that Vito’s offers the pasta dishes as a smaller portion for starters too. For my starter, an unusual choice for me, but I decided to go with Scamozza Al Forno Con Funghi – Oven baked Scamozza cheese with mushrooms, garlic and parsley. A large portion of big, fresh mushrooms lightly cooked and baked in lots of a cheese, far from the soggy, horrible garlic mushrooms you sometimes get on a menu that just leave a sour taste. I don’t often go for mushrooms but I was really pleased with my choice and really enjoyed this starter – so much cheese! Ben went with a starter portion of the Ravioli Aragosta – Lobster filled ravioli cooked with prawns and a touch of cream. Inside the ravioli was real, fresh, big chunks of lobster. The prawns looked big and juicy too and the dish was presented beautifully. I was tempted to be honest, but I stuck to my guns with choosing not to eat seafood (was the most difficult it’s been since I stopped eating it months ago! . However I am told this dish was perfect and delicious. It was a tough decision on which Main dish to go for. Vito recommends the traditional Carbonara. BTW don’t offend him by going to his ITALIAN restaurant and asking for an English or practically made up version of Carbonara in a cream sauce or with chicken in it – that is not a Carbonara and not an authentic Italian dish. I couldn’t believe when he told me that he had previous customers asking for it this was and giving a bad review when he said that he did not serve Carbonara in such a way. However, that night the meal that caught my eye most on the menu was Strascinati Con Salsiccia Lucana (nope I couldn’t pronounce it either – Strascinati (this word comes from the meaning to “pull” as you can see in the shape of the pasta cooked with homemade sausage meat, tomato sauce, basil and chilli. (Typical pasta from Vito’s hometown . Wow – the dish looked amazing, tasted amazing and it was amazing that I actually ate the whole bowl-full, but I did Really good choice and right up my street in terms of taste and ingredients. Ben went for a good old Calzone – Folded pizza filled with ham, mozzarella and tomato, made the traditional Italian way. The dough was perfectly folded and just thick enough that it was lovely and crispy on the outside and still soft on the inside. Fully packed with delicious ingredients, this Calzone did not disappoint, however it just beat him as he was so full. I tried it myself of course and agreed that it was really tasty. As well as the food going down extremely well, I loved the house red wine too – a Primitivo from the Apulia region, a really smooth wine. I am definitely going to get me a bottle of this for the weekend! 2 alcoholic drinks, 2 starters, 2 mains and some olives to start came to just under £60 which we thought was very reasonable and was superb value for money for the quality of food that we received. I think this restaurant would be somewhere great to go for a date or with the family for an occasion."

Had a lovely meal here with friends. Great choice of authentic Italian food. Always think it's good when the chef comes out to talk to the customers shows how much it means. The red wine was fabulous.

A hidden gem! I visited Sheffield on a business trip and stumbled upon this charming Italian restaurant - and I'm so glad I did! The food was exceptional, the prices were very reasonable, and the service was outstanding. It had been 12 years since my last visit to Sheffield, but next time I'm in town, I will definitely be returning to this restaurant!

Amazing place with amazing food. Perfect dining in every way. The food was amazing, the staff were so friendly and went over and beyond to make you feel welcome. We took our 4 year old grandson and they were amazing with him. I would definitely recommend and we will be back. I had the lobster ravioli, mouth watering awesomeness right there on the plate.

vito is by far the most beautiful place in sheffield to eat. it seems a little expensive, but every penny worth it. when I first visited, I was aprehensiw, as I usually don't like it in Italian food, as it never enjoyed over expensive pasta or pizza. but this is much better than that. the personal is friendly and always helpful...nice family-run atmosphere xx

we had a family dinner last night. a party of ten years from 12 to 80. the service was excellent from beginning to end. the personal was friendly. garlic bread with cheese and tomaten was pizza size so good to share. my brother enjoyed scallops from the special board. four of the party had lammed for pornstars and said it was nice, not an ounce fat. I had a vegetarian eggplant court that was beautiful! house red and white wine also very beautiful. desserts were really good. I had profiterole, others had rested or ice cream/sorbit. all are full and happy. excellent food and atmosphere.

Amazing food and amazing customer service !! Vito and his team made my week! This was my first time visiting Vito’s but surely will not be the last time. I went to Vito’s with my friends to try the lobster ravioli and the ravioli was 10/10, no skimping on lobster or on prawns, absolutely delicious. For dessert when I asked the server (another lovely friendly person) if the Tiramisu had alcohol in it , he promptly checked with the chef and told me unfortunately it has alcohol, so my friends ordered the Tiramisu and I skipped. But guess what??The chef/owner(Vito) made a box of alcohol free Tiramisu just for me and he did not even charge me for it even on insisting!!! What a lovely gesture! I c...

"I was well impressed with this restaurant. I usually eat at F&B..and I really quick understand the differences between food and taste, between restaurants. I know also what is the standard for F&B. Bad service you keep to remember and will not make you a returning customer. This is the only restaurant in a 100 miles radius I never complained or my food was never raw. I also appreciated on my last visit a lady who was cleaning she looked more from management as she didn’t had an uniform, setting a good example in cleaning for her employees and customers by cleaning tables very thoroughly, all the spots covered. Well impressed by that especially as I work with Covid patients and I know how important is to be infectious free. The separation areas they build are important as well. The lady who was cleaning I didn’t manage to see her badge as she is a fast walker but she had a colourful mask , the only one who was actually wearing one and yes I know you can choose if you want to wear them but still for me was important as she was trying to protect others in a close environment with covid roaming around everywhere. I held myself for over 2 weeks to write this review as I was to busy but like I said I will be a returning customer.Kudos to her ! Kudos to all managers who are setting the bar high and lead by example! I eat here roughly every 2 weeks and I’m always very well treated. My favourite restaurant, if 10 stars were to be available, 10 stars from me! From the 3 restaurants that Sheffield has, this is by far the best one! Keep it up, guys!"
