"I was one of a Birthday party of 4 people . We waited, after ordering our meals ,for over an hour. We were brought antipasto and apologies for waiting so long. I must say the pizza for one of our party looked lovely as did the pasta for the other two and eaten. Mine however…ravioli… was disgusting ! …In cream sauce? A pile of ravioli in a bowl with what I can only describe as a tub of cream warmed up and tipped over it is exactly what it was. So sickly…I tried to eat it but as hard as I tried couldn’t eat a quarter of it !"

"I saw this brunch advertised on Instagram and was looking for somewhere to celebrate my friends 50th birthday and so booked the brunch . I have to say the atmosphere on the Insta post was not exactly the experience we received. When we arrived the hosts were lovely and gave us a very warm welcome and we were shown to our table . I have been to many bottomless brunches and this was just average which was a shame . Some of the waiters (which it was odd were all male! were quite miserable. I was shocked that you had to stick to the same drink as at other brunches you can chop and change. The food was very average as well . Overall I don’t think I would book this brunch again ."

"the menu has not changed in the last 5 years, except the removal of daily / weekly specials and withdrawal from ‘special night’ (pizza night, streak night). the quality and volume of the feeds has decreased while prices have risen. for a “local pub” they are very touching. the service was prompt (on Tuesday at 19 o'clock, I hope it). However, the personality of a company that felt earlier like the heart of hither green seems to have been lost due to the rotating door or both management and personal. I hope they find their feet and fast. only because they are the next (and see them as monopole) will not last long."

"It’s a nice pub with a good feel to the place. The staff were polite and efficient. We unfortunately had table 5 which is next to an old chimney. There was a cold breeze coming from it so we sat with our coats over our knees and pulled the table away from the metal hood which because it was overhanging the table meant that the cold air dropped onto the table surface and wafted across the top, cooling our hands and potentially our meals, had we not pulled it away. Most of the meals were tasty but the squash arancini were under-seasoned and the squash in them tasteless. A vegan apple crumble might have been good but the addition of mango put us off. It wasn’t cheap, worked out at £33 a head, with two courses being eaten and two out of 4 of us on soft drinks, but I guess the cost of living increases have hit everywhere. We’d probably go again, but wouldn’t rush back."

"Very good but bizarrely mind boggling Chose this resturant as reviews of food good and never been there before. Choice of food excellent and quality very good. Staff very attentive. Not much atmosphere and has the feel of a cafe albeit comfortable furnishings. We did realise this establishment did accommodation until we went to the toilet and then the most bizarre happened. Two apparently residents came into the resturant and sat at the table next to us, unwrapped fish and chips that they had brought from elsewhere and started to eat them!! The whole resturant then was overcome by the smell of vinegar and you could have been sitting in a chip shop. Not pleasant! I would go here again but only as a casual visit."

"I've visited the carvery on multiple Sundays and can confidently say that the experience is unforgettable. The staff is friendly, polite, and incredibly helpful. I wouldn’t hesitate to recommend this restaurant to anyone; it’s a fantastic place to dine and catch up with friends and family. I suggest calling ahead to reserve a table to avoid disappointment. We plan to return this Sunday for another lovely experience. As a gesture of courtesy, please consider leaving a decent tip for the staff after savoring your meal, as a way to show your appreciation. And just a reminder, do not attempt to leave without following the standard procedures—it's important!"

"We were a party of 7 5 adults and 2 babies and went to Eight Bells for Sunday lunch. We travelled from Crawley and Forest Row to check it out. We arrived for a 3.30 booking and were welcomed by lovely staff. Our table was set out for us and the staff were constantly checking to see if they could do anything more for us to make sure we had a good time. They were brilliant. The food was delicious start to finish (we all had starters, mains and desserts) and oh my goodness the gravy on the Sunday roast was divine! After our meal, we moved to the bar area where there are comfy sofas and the babies had great fun walking up and down the ramp between the restaurant and bar area. The ladies and customers were so down to earth and welcoming, playing with the babies etc and we all commented that it was like a real homely place that you'd love to have as your local. Would definitely recommend and we will definitely be back as really enjoyed our afternoon out."

"Today, my aunt and I visited this restaurant. It was our first time seeing each other since lockdown, so we thought it would be nice to go out for lunch. Unfortunately, we were very disappointed with our experience. We arrived at 11:55am and there were only two other tables of two already seated. We gave our names for track and trace, got shown to our table, and then waited for someone to come take our order for about 15-20 minutes. For starters, my aunt had pate and I had garlic mushrooms, which took 35-40 minutes to arrive. We then waited for our mains – scampi for my aunt and chicken curry for myself. After nearly 50 minutes of waiting, I asked how much longer it would be, only to be told another 15-20 minutes. In the meantime, a table of four were seated and immediately served with pizzas and burgers. When I inquired why they were served so quickly, I was told it was because they skipped starters. The couple next to us were still waiting for their food. Frustrated, my aunt and I decided to cancel our mains. To our surprise, they still charged us for the starters and drinks. Needless to say, we will not be returning to this restaurant."

"Went there for quick lunch and it was a little bit disappointed. Spend £3.50 on a coronation chicken sandwich and £1.10 on a can of juice. The baguette was dry like it was lying there for more than 2 days. The lady did not used a gloves and cut the ends of the baguette not sure why probobly cause it was too dry to eat. That really ruined my baguette. Took it on take away and I was all ready too far to talk to stay about it. A great name for a place and lovely staff however it would be nice to see gloves on staff hands when they are preparing the food and clean cutting boards."

"the first time at this davy is for me, although a master father for my client. really attentive service and well tagged. shepherd’s pie delivered and my aubergine steak grooms were full of taste an ideal dish if they don’t want something too heavy. good ambiente. and it’s unnecessary to say an excellent selection of crying through the glass."

"I ordered a goat cheese salad at this restaurant and it was disappointingly small and lacked flavor. Additionally, they had already added a service charge to the bill, yet the waitress, who provided no service, had the audacity to ask for an additional tip on the credit card machine. Witherespoon serves better meals than her. Needless to say, I will not be returning to this restaurant and I do not recommend it to anyone I know."

"located in the cornwall street in the business district of the city, is opus, a restaurant known for its dedication to sustainability, social responsibility and community engagement. on Tuesday night we have selected three courses from the market menu, so called that the menu is joined after what is good and plentiful on the market. food with a basket of (cold and dry) brot we washed our appetite, we went directly into the pflasterhof pork terrine. presented on an elongated shape plate, similar to the terrine plate itself, the meat was surprisingly dense with little gel. with aromen remembering a Hog-Rost, the accompanying apfelpüre became artistic, but spearly around the plate dotted along with some fruity spicy vegetables including green flower cabbage. next we were treated with a turned-off menu plate from pan roasted scallops. a personal favorite of me, they were delicious, fresh, juicy and plump. my slow braided blade of bark was a very generous part of soft, fat meat, which was greatly improved by the accompanying jus. the star of this teller was the hearty horseradish monkey. meanwhile, my ess mate chose brixham market fish of the day, confit fenchel, steamed kartoffels and autumn green. the Béarnaise sauce has the juicy and as promised, market fresh fish that is considered cod. dessert was a citrus potset (creamy and intensively smooth,) with fruit salsa (tart) and short brot and icy blackberry parrot with poached brombeer; both were fresh, lively and delightful. the service was quiet so it was to curious diners like us to ask about the more unusual ingredients on the plate. price at £15.50 for three courses, the market menu offers exceptional value for money. on the menu a la carte are starter £7 £10, mostly are £10 £20, and most desserts are £7. overall a firm favorit with the smart deal that was eating conservative with few surprises. the quality of the raw components is clear and the aromene are left clean and uncomplicated according to the purpose to allow them to shine through. I would say, opus is a safe bet for diners, the qualitatiw high quality food with provenance at one of the smartest addresses of the city."

"I ordered a goat cheese salad at the restaurant and found it to be small and bland. Service charge was already included in the bill, yet the waitress, who did not do much to assist us, still tried to solicit additional tips on the credit card machine. Witherespoon completes missions better than her. Needless to say, I will not be returning to this restaurant and I advise others to do the same."

"Friends took us here for a meal on a Saturday evening. She had booked a table for 4, the staff knew nothing of the booking, but that was ok as the restaurant was not busy. We ordered drinks, water with ice and lemon, and our mains. The waitress was friendly. The drinks arrived and then we waited. Our waitress disappeared, so we asked another for our water which eventually came but without ice and lemon. After 30-45 min the food eventually came. Mine was a lukewarm, overpriced and not particularly nice chilli prawn pasta. My partner had a very badly presented Spag Bol and a limp looking salad. We didn’t complain as we didn’t want to upset our hosts. We weren’t offered Parmesan or pepper so asked for it. One friend declined Parmesan explaining to me he didn’t like cheese, at which point the waitress decided to chip into out conversation explaining which cheeses she liked and which she didn’t. Whilst we were waiting for our food and eating I noticed a man sitting on his own sending his meal back to the kitchen. A second meal arrived and he sent that back too. He saw me looking and said his steaks had been cremated. He seemed happier with his 3rd steak. Our plates were cleared and we were then forgotten about for another 30 min or so. We asked for the sweets menu. After another long wait, we ordered sweets to be followed by coffee. A mistake, because the coffee came first and was lukewarm. Never mind, by this stage we just wanted to get away. The sweets were ok, but small, and over-priced. After 2.5 hr for 2 courses, we asked for the bill. Well what a shambles. We were were shown one bill which was not ours. We offered to tell the waitress what we had eaten but she was stressed and didn’t want our help. Another table was having a similar problem and told us they were so fed up they were retiring to the lounge until it was sorted. We eventually got a correct bill but initially couldn’t pay as the card machine was broken. A second card machine had to be found. After almost 3 hr, we eventually departed. That night both myself and my partner felt we had upset stomachs."

"Amazing quality food, really well thought out and fresh. Not particularly cheap but that reflects the quality of the food, so it's not unreasonable. The location is great, lovely views of the seafront from the conservatory dining room. I'd recommend skipping starters, partly to cut the price down and partly because the main portions are huge."

"When I had eaten several times in the shepherd and dog, I was very disappointed last Wednesday. we waited at least 20 minutes for someone to pick up our order, and it was almost an hour when we had set ourselves until we got to eat. we chose from the a la carte menu where past eating was excellent, but on Wednesday the appetizers and main course were very mediocre. nothing like taste, presentation and quality at previous visits. the only saving gnade was the sharing gloomy. we stayed at least one more hour at the table talk and the desert plates and coffee saucers were just left and not removed. my friends and I have often visited for special occasions, but at £40 per head for a midday week without wine we expect better service and eat."

"The food was good but……. Service was awful, ordered wine and it was basically dumped at the bottom of our table not even the top taken off ! Pizza was good also the burger, was a chore for the waitress to get us any sauces. When we had finished we were asked can I take your plates, No can I offer you a dessert, coffee nothing. After 20 mins we got up and had to ask for our bill at the main desk, again a chore for the member of staff to have to get our bill.what a shame as it could be a very high rating place to eat."

"I used to enjoy a night out at Harry's Bar in Billericay before the lockdown, finding it to be a classy establishment. However, during my recent visit, I found that the atmosphere had deteriorated. The bar was filled with very drunk and loud individuals, typical of the Essex party scene. By 9pm, the patrons were already rowdy and stumbling around, leading me to believe that the bar may require additional security as the night progresses. The female toilets were in poor condition, lacking toilet paper and with taps that barely functioned. Navigating the stairs was also a challenge due to the intoxicated individuals struggling to climb them. The staff was a mixed bag - the male bartender made me a nice cocktail, but the female bartenders were unfriendly and seemed disinterested in their work. After a few drinks, I decided to leave with my friend and head to a nearby pub where we had a great time. It seems that Harry's Bar has transformed into a rowdy, meat market club where patrons come to get drunk and dress provocatively. I have heard that the food is good during the day, so I may return for lunch in the future."

"I used to be a great fan of Pilgrim Pizza until the recent drop in standards noticed by myself and my friends independently. Since the menu changed, I decided to give it another go, to contrast and compare their meaty pizza with the superb one at the more pricey Pizzeria Mozza the day before. If they had the wisdom to keep simple comfort food simple and not try too hard, then the pizza could have been very good. But the tasty meat topping on a lovely base was totally wasted by not having any melted cheese on top as the stomach cries out for and instead, a fridge-cold Burrata sat out of place in it’s midst! Yet the photo on their website still had the melted cheese old version, which shows some things should not be changed! Christina"

"Lovely spot right by the canal. Service was a little slow to start. They hit two of my pet peeves immediately-offered water we said still. Offered bread we said yes. Charged us £15 for two bottles of water and £10 for two small basket of bread. Charging for these items was not listed on the menu, nor mentioned by the staff. When I went to their website it noted Happy Hour-but failed to mention it was only for bar seating. All this said, my entree of sea bass was excellent. My partner had the brisket and was amazed how it just fell off the bone. Would go again, just not get clipped for water and bread."
