"Visited last week for lunch. The nibbles and the starters were excellent … the croquettes were to die for and we ended up ordering an extra portion. However very oddly the restaurant seems to let itself down when it comes to the main courses. I’m not sure whose idea it was to just serve a main dish with literally what you have ordered on the plate and absolutely nothing else but it just doesn’t work. It’s very underwhelming when you receive it and also not possible to eat and enjoy that way. A restaurant of that calibre should be marrying their main dishes with accompanying flavours and textures that make the star of the dish come alive by complimenting and bringing the dish together. Yes they have an array of side dishes you can order but they have not been carefully chosen to match with the dish you have. We literally ordered a rump steak and got a rump steak with nothing else on the plate. To make it worse it was chewy and not a particularly good rump steak. We ordered peppercorn sauce to go with it as you can’t eat something like that plain but unfortunately the combination of the peppercorn with the salted chips and the extra salt crystals that had been put on the steak made the whole thing incredibly salty. It wasn’t good. Such a shame as the chef can clearly cook given the starters were so nice."

Relaxed atmosphere. Professional and attentive staff. Great selection of wines. I enjoyed the olives and then the arroz. Great attention to detail. I’ll definitely be returning

Superb meal with very nice staff. Great choices loved the Red prawn bisque croqueta, charcoal mayonnaise and Grilled Mackerel, XO sauce, daikon radish, charcoal mayo starters. Fabulous paella and good wine selection.

What a wonderful meal ! Menu was varied and interesting and the food perfectly cooked . Delicious shoulder of lamb for two and a miraculous Catalan tart . Service impeccable… this restaurant cannot be faulted . We shall return!

The ambience was good, the staff were very friendly but the experience was let down by the food. the rump steak was like chewing an old leather boot. Its probably the most expensive place in Cardiff but not worth the cost. Bit of a let down View menu

This is a superb restaurant in every way. The food was delicious, the atmosphere was great and all the staff were brilliant. They were so pleasant and helpful, particularly James, the restaurant manager. Whatever you asked of them was never any trouble. Again the same applies in the morning when we had breakfast.

Never fails to please! The flavours are sublime as everything is served so that you can appreciate the quality of the produce. We have had the most incredible beef sirloin, cooked and seasoned to perfection, (rare) and well cooked accompaniments. The deserts are creative and delicious. Brilliant Sunday lunch, and of course fabulous service, wines and other drinks. Thank you!

Visited here today and am already looking for an excuse to go back (I live over 100 miles away). We had 2 courses from the lunch menu (steak, whole squid and hake) and sampled all of the snacks. Guys, the croquets are to die for! The lunch menu served until 245 is great value. Beautifully cooked and presented food, in warm, relaxing surroundings. Excellent service too. Thank you. View menu

Another amazing meal evening. Friendly helpful service. We weren’t hurried at all. Cocktails to start , then sourdough with olive oil, a pork starter, amazing loin of lamb for my main course followed by a tart with pecan brittle and ice cream. All washed down with cider for me. Three of the party shared a 1kg beef rib which looked amazing. They had wine which they said was superb as well as a dessert wine. The total cost, including service, was £100 per head which we felt was great value. Nice toilets as well

Had the shared meat as it was a Sunday you could add chorizo Yorkshire pudding, leek gratin and roast potatoes and seasonal veg. I had the lamb with salsa verde. The lamb was extremely fatty and could barely finish it, the veg was underseasoned and there was no salt or pepper on the table. The Yorkshire pudding had no chorizo in it whatsoever so ever. The plates were boiling hot and one of our party was scalded by gravy. The gratin was bland the whole experience was rather lack luster and living off its reputation. I have honestly had better pub dinner
