"My wife and I eat at Audela perhaps 2 or 3 times a year and without exception it 's always fantastic. Yes, it 's probably the most expensive place to eat in Berwick, but not only is it a proper 'occasion ' to eat there, the food is fabulously prepared, presented and served. The interior of the restaurant is also just lovely and it has a nice vibe plus, it 's dog friendly. Ingredients are fresh and locally sourced, while the drinks menu features a good range of wine, fizz, spirits and beer. The vegetables in particular are always great. The portion sizes are perfectly pitched such that three courses are just perfect without feeling you 've over indulged. I 'm vegetarian and while the menu is limited the choices are always delicious the twice baked soufflé is fantastic plus it 's always worth having a chat to see if Craig, the chef can rustle something else up for you. And should the treacle tart be on the desert menu, just make sure you leave some space for it. It 's the best thing ever. In fact start with the treacle tart and work backwards : Finally, you 've got The Barrels and The Curfew just a few metres away should you fancy a good pint plus a walk around the walls to burn it all off."

The best Sunday lunch!!! Highly recommend. Quite high priced but you do get what you pay for. It didn't stop me having 3 courses instead of 2 as it was so delicious. Very attentive staff.

Lovely Sunday Lunch as a Birthday treat for 4 people. My only comment is that menu is not that varied with only 3 choices for starters mains. Great and friendly service, lovely atmosphere and modern decor in the restaurant. A hidden gem.

We had a very good dinner at Audela earlier this week. The food was very good well prepared, well presented and very enjoyable. Our wine was good too. The service was excellent and special thanks to the waitress who served us she worked so hard. Thoroughly recommended.

We had an amazing Sunday lunch at Audela. This included a perfect scallop starter, roast beef main and delicious desserts. Despite being relatively busy the owner took time to talk to us about the business, her husband chef and our son who is also a young chef. A perfect meal and and great service View menu

The best meal i have had in 20 years. Lucky enough to have eaten in some of the top restaurants in the uk and this was as good or better than them all. Three of us had nearly the whole set menu which consisted of three chooses starter main and desert. All were perfect english local sourced food and cooking at its best.. The restaurant has been going for 11 years and has a regular clientele , so book to avoid being disappointed.

Quite simply put some of the best food I've ever eaten. Worth every penny. Just go. Last night... Starter scallops as they should be; caught on the outside and buttery smooth the centre. The risotto was creamy and delicious. Main: the halibut it is the king of fish and was absolutely stand out. We came again tonight Starter: the confit chicken was extraordinary crispy skin, and deep almost earthy meat. Main: roe deer deep rich flavours across the plate. Cheese all local (ish) No photos tonight.

"Absolutely terrible! We were partly to blame for not recognizing the warning signs and continuing to order at this 'restaurant', despite all indications that it would be a bad experience. Even the lady at the lovely B&B where we were staying tried to warn us. When we mentioned we had booked a table at the Queens Head for dinner, she looked surprised and mentioned that if we didn't like anything on the menu, they could always make us sausage and chips. That should have been warning sign number one! We had booked a table based on the promise of 'quality' food and a fine dining experience, but when we arrived, the waitress seemed uninterested, didn't acknowledge our booking, and didn't even ask for our name. She directed us to a table with a chair practically on top of a fire hydrant and asked if it would be suitable. Warning sign number two! The laminated menu on our table had photos of cheap 'sharing nibble plates' for £2.50, and the rest of the menu consisted mainly of dirty fries and nachos. Warning sign number three! The waitress was clueless about the menu and unhelpful when we asked questions. When we asked about the chicken curry, she simply said it was 'just chicken' and when asked about side dishes, she just said 'vegetables'. When we asked what kind of vegetables, she gave us a confused shrug and said, 'they are just vegetables!' Warning sign number four! The carrot and coriander soup was the best dish we had, but the Salmon and Dill Fish cake starter was obviously a cheap frozen fish cake fried to death with a grey, fishless middle. The Vegetable Curry was flavorless and served so hot it was almost boiling, with a side of dry white rice. The Chicken Breast was cooked decently but served on slightly raw potato stacks. Most of the food seemed reheated. To top it off, the prices were astronomical - £10.95 for the fish cake starter, £23.95 for the chicken, and £17.95 for the curry - all steep prices for such poor quality food. We didn't stay for dessert. The bill came to nearly £70 for 2 courses and 2 drinks, which was the final insult. Not one waitress checked on our food, and when I left half of my main course untouched, she abruptly asked if I was finished and cleared our plates. Don't be fooled by the website promising a top-quality experience - steer clear of this place."
