"My partner and I often visit Ludlow and like to discover new coffee and lunch venues. We were a little hesitant when finding this lovely looking cafe/ bistro was empty, whilst elsewhere coffee shops seemed quite busy. The interior was inviting and the waitress friendly so we decided to try it out. As a first impression, I think the extractors in the kitchen could benefit from an overhaul , as the smell of stale fat was noticeably in the air. Also, as is a trend in coffee shops recently, the place was a little chilly. Hot chocolate and coffee was ordered to sort that! These came quickly and were ok. My partner ordered a bacon sandwich (crispy bacon please! and a tea cake for me. The latter was unavailable so a scone was second choice. Sadly on arrival the bacon was definately not crispy and had gelatinous fat and rind. The bread was thick white sliced toasting bread (supermarket cheap and not fresh. My scone came with cream and jam but the scone was like a brick. Definitely not today 's or yesterday 's even. On paying my partner was asked if everything was OK with our food. He politely replied about the scone being stale and the response was simply Oh. And that was that. On leaving the smell of stale fat was in our clothes .... I think that the poor ratings on here are more recent and the average 4 star rating has been bolstered by better reviews earned historically. I do hope this isn 't a downward trend for this little business and things can be pulled back."

A bit overated and over priced to be fair for what we got. Average taste to food which needed a lot of seasoning. Place was inundated with wasps which is off putting to say the least.

I fucked a side street, a nice little caffe. personal friendly and eating was good.....I had to wait one. I wasn't in a hurry, so no problem, but if in a hurry, it could have felt different.

Arrived mid week to a warm cafe with a friendly greeting. We sat down to a lovely clean table and were swiftly given the menu. We had two hot cappuccino’s and two breakfasts. Everything was spot on, although I would have preferred our plates to be warm. We had no room left for cake, so will return another day. The cafe soon filled up after our arrival, the people seemed to be regulars. That’s a good sign.

What a shame, the cafe is in a great location and that's the only positive, the food is overpriced, poor quality and the portion sizes are tiny. We had two breakfasts, most of the food was cold but the quality of the food was just awful, cheap supermarket food not something you expect when you're paying around £10 for breakfast. There's much better food available in Ludlow, I certainly won't be returning to Bakers ever.... I almost feel like asking for a refund as I feel completely ripped off

Visited recently I will not be returning. Was very quiet but decided we would give it a go nevertheless, only for coffee and cake as we had some spare time before parking ran out. The selection of cake was poor and what we got was disgusting, they definitely don’t check anything before serving. Stale. The servers were young but didn’t act like they had any life left in them at all. I’m sure they would have wanted to be anywhere else other than work. The hot chocolate tasted like it was supermarket bought and both drinks were awful.

We live locally and enjoy a weekend lunch out with our two young children. We hadn’t been to Baker’s for a while so thought we would give it a try… the staff were friendly and helpful in seating us and sorting a high chair for our youngest. We ordered drinks which were delivered promptly (disappointed that there were no child friendly drinks on offer … only fruit juice (Tesco basic) or milk. However the coffee was decent. We then ordered our meals about 5 minutes later. A child’s meal, sandwich and eggs royale. We waited 30 minutes and still no food. After 45 minutes I asked the waitress if it was nearly ready to be told that the table behind us were being served first (they actually arrived...

"this excellent and very busy michelin and good food guide listed caffe right next to the teme in dinham, below the burg in ludlow, just a few meters from the most famous, michelin played herr underhills nothing to reduce the culinary call of the city. eating everything is careful and in perfect condition. a hugely light confusion about what was up and what was out was soon overcome and my melt in mouth gravadlax came with dill and senf dressing and first-class fresh roggenbrot. also the pasta of my companions looked good. I followed with panacotta and a pfirsich. the wine is delivered as carefully as eating and comes from “small family-run independent vineyards” and a modest asatical white domaine leon boesch, la cabane 2011 – rounded off the whole. the green cafe has 30 seats inside with 25 on the terrace outside, of course only usable if the weather is good, so they have to book. it is a midday restaurant and operates 90 minutes sessions. but on a good day as it was for our visit, it is a total joy. children were sure to paddle in flat water of the river and the mood, supported by the friendly, busy, but unraveled worker, was like a party. the green credentials of the place are underlined by the careless with which everything is done, including the sanation. it is worth mentioning this – we use edward bulmers paintt pots of paints with seat in pembridge, herefordshire. our new tables have been made from retrieved wood by steve hodges by leominster – how brilliant is this? a walk over the Dinham bridge, led to the flow nature path on the right and the bad teme, which we on the way to the charlton arms, where, on the terrace overlooking the river, we did not sink a few pints from hobson."
