"Ate here Wednesday with friends for a university reunion. Food was very good and small but interesting wine list. Excellent service. Place is very small and in centre of town. You need to book and that really means ringing. We were asked to preorder food, but that not a problem. Most of the dishes were served on clay pots, on a plate with serviette. It made them quite difficult to eat. Several of us had cassoulet very generous but you had to take meat out of the pot to cut it up. That meant removing the serviettes from under a very hot dish tricky! Note there is no service charge on the bill but they ask for tips in cash. Vegetarian options: Don't think there were any it's french. Kid friendliness: Not really suitable"

Not cheap but worth every penny in our opinion. Excellent duck main course followed by a delicious creme brulee. The best meal we had all week while visiting Shropshire. Service: Dine in Meal type: Lunch Price per person: £40–50 Food: 5 Service: 5 Atmosphere: 4

Went there for dinner and really enjoyed. The place is really cosy and the staff are excellent with plenty of time to chat and look after us. Had the onion soup to start and cassoulet for main and would not have been out of place in Paris or Toulouse. Creme brulée dessert was also delicious. Service: Dine in Meal type: Dinner

Can't tell you about the food as I can't even get a table. Have emailed twice to request a table twice and no replies. When I did ring to try and book a slot the rude man who answered said there were no tables that day and just put the phone down immediately before I could ask about alternate dates ! Had a reply in Google saying check my emails but there is nothing there. Checked spam as well nothing. Food: 1

"My partner and I often visit Ludlow and like to discover new coffee and lunch venues. We were a little hesitant when finding this lovely looking cafe/ bistro was empty, whilst elsewhere coffee shops seemed quite busy. The interior was inviting and the waitress friendly so we decided to try it out. As a first impression, I think the extractors in the kitchen could benefit from an overhaul , as the smell of stale fat was noticeably in the air. Also, as is a trend in coffee shops recently, the place was a little chilly. Hot chocolate and coffee was ordered to sort that! These came quickly and were ok. My partner ordered a bacon sandwich (crispy bacon please! and a tea cake for me. The latter was unavailable so a scone was second choice. Sadly on arrival the bacon was definately not crispy and had gelatinous fat and rind. The bread was thick white sliced toasting bread (supermarket cheap and not fresh. My scone came with cream and jam but the scone was like a brick. Definitely not today 's or yesterday 's even. On paying my partner was asked if everything was OK with our food. He politely replied about the scone being stale and the response was simply Oh. And that was that. On leaving the smell of stale fat was in our clothes .... I think that the poor ratings on here are more recent and the average 4 star rating has been bolstered by better reviews earned historically. I do hope this isn 't a downward trend for this little business and things can be pulled back."
