Becketts is my favorite café all over the world, because of its kindness and delicious soups, cakes, etc. The people who run it and work there are beautiful, compassionate, warm individuals who understand what vegans are and what veganism is. In this part of Whitby there is little alternative for vegans. Becketts was opened in January 2007.

I've been coming to Whitby for years and didn't notice Becketts this year. It is such a cozy atmosphere as a café meets the library. You have advertised some vegan soup options. I can't remember the exact name of the one I ordered, but I think it was something like a spicy coconut-chickpea soup. Really delicious. It comes with rice cake, as the bread is not vegan, but just make sure to demand it. You don't have any milk to drink with your soup. Updated by previous review on 2022-11-28

I had a wonderful experience at this cozy little café. The staff were incredibly friendly and welcoming. Traveling alone with my dogs can sometimes be stressful, so it was a delight to be able to sit down, enjoy some cake, and relax with them. The cake was absolutely delightful! I want to extend a huge thank you to the staff for their kindness. I visited on my birthday, and I truly appreciated having the time to sit, enjoy my cake, and read my book for an hour with my dogs by my side. Meal type: Other.

I've been visiting Whitby for years, but this year was the first time I noticed Beckett's. It has a wonderfully cozy atmosphere, reminiscent of a café mixed with a library. They offer a few clearly marked vegan soup options. Although I can't recall the exact name of the soup I ordered, I believe it was something like spicy coconut chickpea soup. It was delicious! Instead of bread, it comes with rice cakes, but make sure to ask for them. They also provide non-dairy milk, so you can enjoy a drink alongside your soup.
