"For the afternoon of my Brother and Sister-in-laws wedding anniversary a family group of six adults and two children chose Le Bistrot De La Place as our destination. Set in the very sleepy hamlet of Tremolat well of the beaten tourist path. We were set outside under sun shades which could have done with being a tad bigger for those at the end of the table, but no matter.Lunch menu isn't extensive - if you like duck - you're in for a treat but most of the region has specialist duck menus so just a question of how good they are at cooking.Several settled for all duck menus while myself went for Gaspacho/Chicken/Chocolate pudding from the set menu €22.The gazpacho was pleasant - if a little large. Chicken was actually superb - full of flavour along with the chocolate and strawberry pudding. I heard no complaints only praise re the fish starters and the duck menu. My only gripe was the kids being served their food a good five minutes before adult portions stated to arrive sporadically. Waiting staff were excellent though, courteous and polite. Overall a very good experience"

This is the mid market restaurant of the Michelin starred vieux logis hotel. The food is really good and reasonably priced, friendly service and we'll worth a visit.

Carte avec de bons produits qui offrent des plats riches en goût préservés par une juste cuisson. Accueil sympathique dans cet établissement au coeur d un joli village. Tout est équilibré

We had lunch today at le Bistrot but were very disappointed with the service. It was a French holiday but it seemed that the restaurant was under staffed. The menu de hour was nice although the chicken was over cooked. It has a decent but not extensive wine list. Probably will not return.

We ate lunch here as a party of 3. We all chose the menu de jour of cold melon soup with lemon sorbet, followed by duck with sweet ginger jus and celeriac puree and dessert of chocolate mousse, hazelnut ice cream and fresh berries. The restaurant is beautifully appointed with rustic touches. The food is exceptional and the staff are friendly attentive and knowledgeable. The wine list is very good, however we chose a demi pichet of local rose which was fresh and fruity. This place is on our return list and we'll be going back.

Le Bistrot de la Place is the restaurant linked with Le Vieux Logis hotel which itself has a Michelin starred restaurant. It is advisable to book a table as this is clearly a popular choice, we did and although the place was empty when we arrived at 7.30pm it was full by 8.15pm.Full of rustic charm, the staff spoke a little English but made us very welcome. The menu offered the usual local delicacies, and provided the option of a la carte or set menu. The food was not the cheapest (so I dread to think what the restaurant across a Le Vieux Logis charges!), but was very good quality.Sadly it was a wet evening so we sat indoors, but would imagine the outside seating on a pleasant evening would h...

We had a lovely dinner at Le Bistrot de la Place. As other have noted, in the high season you should definitely make a reservation. We were alone at our 7:30 seating, but within 30 minutes, the restaurant was full. The food is traditional French...but with some interesting twists, for example I had foie gras "sushi" rolls as an entree. I've never seen this before, and it was delicious. My plat was a more traditional duck confit and for dessert, I had another unexpected treat....a take on a frozen margarita....sort of a lime granita over a gelato. We enjoyed lovely weather so we sat outside, but the interior seems equally as comfortable and inviting. We had the tasting menu at Le Vieux Logis...
