"We've been going to the Cafe Rouge for years and were thrilled that we were early enough for breakfast. We're going in front of a football match, when the bacon was completely cold, we had no time to return it and reheat it. On the other hand, the mushroom cooked hot. The waitress was forgotten and we had to remind her at least half a dozen times about forgotten requests. Eg we wanted brown sauce, in the end I got up and collected it, or our breakfast would have been colder. Large employees change over the last few weeks and they are all a bit under-trained and not as efficient as before."

The restaurant offers a selection of menu options including a la carte and a 12.95 deal for 2 courses. Despite the limited choices due to a busy match day, the food was still good. The service was excellent and efficient. I would definitely recommend dining here.

We had booked an early lunch reservation. The staff at the restaurant was extremely attentive and the menus were easy to understand. As the restaurant started to get busier, it took some time to receive our food and ask for the bill, but overall we had a pleasant meal and experience before heading to The Lowry to see ELF!. The Lowry Centre Cafe Rouge is a fantastic dining option located conveniently in front of the theatre. The ambiance is vibrant and the food is decent in quality. While it might be on the pricier side without our gourmet card, the discount makes it more affordable. The staff is competent and friendly, although they may be understaffed during peak hours.

The staff were pleasant but although the children's starters came quickly we then waited a further 30minutes for the main courses. The table was not cleared. One of the adult steaks could have soled a shoe in spite of asking for a medium rare. The mussels were poor and the children's food was cold. We were given £15 off the bill which we appreciated but we would have preferred to have been served with a well cooked hot meal as we had requested . As a result we will not be returning to their restaurant despite its convenience to the Lowry Teatre.

Alborz

Alborz

820 Stockport Road, Manchester, United Kingdom

"Alborz is a wonderful hidden gem in Levenshulme that serves a variety of Persian and Middle-Eastern food, located on Stockport Rd you could be forgiven for thinking that Alborz is as unassuming as it's humble exterior suggests. However, what lies behind those modest doors is truly fantastic restaurant both in terms of food and service. The interior is understated and tasteful, furnished with Persian vases and ornate tea sets, the tables are close together to make the most of the limited space available but this lends a refreshing communal atmosphere to your meal. The staff were friendly and attentive and more than happy to talk you through the menu and explain the various dishes. We ordered the Mezze Platter to start, this consists of four different starters, and is ideal if you're not overly familiar with Persian cuisine, the homemade hummus was a particular highlight being both fresh and tasty. We then ordered the Alborz special grill for two, which looks as wonderful as it tastes, succulent skewers of koobideh and chicken accompanied by grilled vegetables, saffron rice and a freshly baked taltoon bread which was frankly quite ridiculous in its magnificence and is so large it came supplied with its own stand. This was a true delight to eat and I can highly recommend it. After all of that, we were overloaded with food and couldn't possibly consider having dessert and so, asked for the bill, which led to true surprise of the evening, all of this wonderfully authentic and fresh food came to a grand total of £42. This reflects tremendous value in a time where a meal for two can often prove quite expensive. Overall I would say that Alborz is definitely worth visiting if you're in the area and if you're not well then it's worth making the trip for. If you're a fan of Persian food or perhaps want to try something new then you would genuinely struggle to find such a quality dining experience at this price point."
