"Compared to the Chinese food recommended by Xiaohongshu, I think this place is better. First of all, the attitude is very correct and will not discriminate against people who come to eat alone. It was also the busiest time. The Chinese restaurant recommended by Xiaohongshu directly rejected me, not even giving me a chance to say whether it could be packed or waiting for a while, and then directly talked to the next customer and ignored me. And here we respect first come, first served, and we also respect people who come to eat alone. If there happens to be a seat, you can sit down directly. If there is no seat, the customer will be asked if they can wait or make a reservation. The taste is not bad and the price is very good. A full meal in Switzerland almost costs around 50CHF per person, but here it only costs 28CHF. The spicy spicy soup is very appetizing in this rainy day. It would be nice if the beef fried rice could be served in large and small portions, because this portion is really too large for one person to eat. The experience is great!"

really good and authentic food. However, do not eat there, because it is too crowded and very small.

I've been coming here for years. It's one of the most authentic Chinese restaurants in Lausanne. Excellent service, easy access (from Lausanne station), big portions and delicious food

We had the frog legs and the duck. They tasty, but the pancakes that came with the duck were a bit meh (how rough and felt like it was microsaturated). The service was great and the staff was very nice. Come back.

This Chinese restaurant should not be compared to others that the Chinese literally call great restaurant . There, these are popular dishes like at home. The dishes are relatively well stocked. No need for me to say more, it 's already well rated by many people and my opinion is in the same direction.

Oh what a lovely experience at Chez Xu! The food was delicious, and served in generous portions. The service was quick despite the number of patrons. The atmosphere is also great: simple, authentic, sincere are the adjectives that describe this wonderful restaurant. I will certainly return, and recommend it to friends.

Families run the restaurant. Huge portions maybe even a little too much and really cheap price. We were recommended by friends who know the city very well. Delicious food. If you eat outside, there is a problem of darkness as there is no lighting. Acceptable service: family a bit chaotic, a waiter wanted to water the plants and accidentally even wet a customer. Payment only with cash, but with the receipt.

Had ordered fried noodles that were served cold, after we pointed this out to the staff, they took the plate away to at least make the noodles a little warmer. But when the plates came back NOTHING had happened, I would even say that they were colder than before. We didn't want to ask for a second warm-up and asked for the bill WITHOUT eating the pasta, and lo and behold the pasta was FULLY CHARGED!!! I have never experienced anything like this and recommend that everyone NOT make the same mistake and eat at this restaurant

"Au Charbon is family managed restaurant, set in a pleasant and quiet part of Lausanne, easily reached on the bus, if like me, you are touring. The restaurant is ‘cosy’ and the owners have maximised the number of seats available, which sounds like me...spinning a cramped venue but it actually works out okay. We had sufficient room to relax and eat without imposing on our neighbouring tables, so the efficient spacing added to the atmosphere and the wine waiter added character. The restaurant has a traditional pizzeria menu with no surprises with the choice of pizza, steaks etc. All our choices were well presented, cooked exactly to request and delicious. Portion sizes were just right too On the down side, the table service was very slow, it took around an hour for the first course and one dish was wrong when it eventually arrived but we put that down to being busy. The lady serving was also a bit too presumptuous that the change from the bill would be her tip and she didn’t return the change, eventually coming back to confirm if this was so. In summary, I enjoyed my meal and time at Au Charbon, they seem to have earned their reputation from being consistent in serving nicely presented dishes that are cooked well. The higher end options are a bit on the pricey side if you are on holiday, especially when considering this is a pizzeria (a steak costing CHF). However most restaurants of this type in Lausanne are similarly priced and it is what it is."
