"Pretty much been using this place for years, but not any more, with no issue when taking the dog. Coincidence or not, since the original owner/landlord has returned and who is clearly not a fan of our four legged friends, there seems to be a...negative attitude with dogs in the pub. We booked just before Christmas for people and dogs. We explained we had well behaved dogs and the booking was taken. minutes later we get a call from the pub asking if our dogs are well behaved by a not particularly nice lady, she the explained that if they are not well behaved you will be asked to leave. I was utterly shocked and immediately cancelled the booking. I told the lady if your not dog friendly then perhaps a bit more training is required in how to speak to your customers. Bottom line is, if you have a dog, go somewhere else. Loads of better pubs around, with a far better atmosphere."

great dog friendly pub with a beautiful green outdoor area. the tables are nicely spaced so they don't feel over others. Eating was nice and had a large selection of options.

We live locally and have eaten here often but tonight was exceptional. The chickpea dhal and ox cheek were outstanding and the service was excellent as usual. Great to see new specials as well as old favourites.

came today to lunch with hubby and ma, all on place. Hubby still went over perfect roast lamb, I enjoyed the veggie mushroom wellington (loving with great crispy nuts and crushed bäck) and ma had the haloumi and mushroomburger with. a mountain of golden chips. eat so much that no one had space for pudding (shame as there were a few things that we tied). service was prompt and courteous and bill less than I expected. thank you, we're back!

came here with some friends for a late lunch many places that served after this until we all enjoyed the food we had what was hot and tasty, and we all had more than we could eat. but we tried hard, unfortunately, not to finish a place for pudding. those who served us were helpful and very efficient. there was also a good selection of food and specialties on the board. Each of our dishes was and was very worth spending the money. will definitely go back.

Hadn't visited for a couple of years, and was very pleasantly surprised. We booked lunch on the spur of the moment. The menu was varied and interesting, with a lot of choice. We had to wait a fair while for our food, but when it...arrived it was very good quality and delicious. The portions were very large there was no way I could have managed to eat a dessert which is a shame as I imagine they were very good too! We live close by and will definitely return again sooner than years!

Popped in on the off chance for some food. I’ve recently moved to the area and had been out most of the day. I wasn’t too sure what to expect but as very pleasantly surprised. Bar staff were friendly, attentive and helpful. We weren’t too...sure if the food was going to be home cooked and it was. We both opted for the fish pie which was hot and delicious with lots of tasty fish and lots of prawns. There was plenty of pie and it was very filling. Not the cheapest of places but was reasonable considering the quality of the food. I hope to come here again.

Had an amazing meal here last week one lunchtime. The fish and chips was huge perfectly cooked and presented and just to die for. The homemade pies were also fantastic and greatly enjoyed. All my family were really impressed. The staff were really friendly welcoming...and efficient and this made for an overall great experience. Our only criticism of the entire visit was that we all thought for a small glass of house wine did seem top dollar in todays environment and market which weighted the final bill. Otherwise perfect would definitely visit again and highly recommend.

Went to experience the much fan-fared Sunday lunch menu. I went for the lamb my lady the pork as the beef that arrived on the table opposite looked still alive. A very large and sad looking Yorkshire pud commanded the cold plate. A proud Yorkshire...pudding is quite a simple delight, requiring little effort or knowledge to produce, on sampling our pudding this was cold and had the consistency of a cowardly burst ballon. The roasters were once of potato, but now inedible burnt and as hard as my neighbours pit bull, a result of triple cooking and some more. The lamb just needed cooking and I may have eaten it. The gravy lacked glaze and taste… I shall cease. Oh…Take a glass if you require refr...
