Called to this place at 16:00hrs on a Saturday for something to eat… no dogs allowed it was a small dog also a cavapoo… this is not a dog friendly pub… shame place was empty also…

Busy bar restaurant but food came quickly, was hot and tasty. Staff pleasant and friendly. If you want a plate of reasonably priced hot food with no fuss and bother this is your place :

Any self respecting chef or cook would refuse to send out food not fit for human consumption. My family had the most disgusting inedible food, food term used loosely. We will never return. Me and my friend called in here for lunch as we had been before and it was good, not such a, good experience this time, I had bbq ribs which were dry tough tasteless and had about one tablespoon of bbq sauce on the top, some chips were hard in the middle to, my friends was edible if nothing else, very overpriced £40 for bland boring food, staff weren't overly helpful either or pleasant, so I definitely wouldn't recommend or be returning extremely poor.

I was there with my family my son, daughter in law and my 2 grandchildren. I was very slow service as were were only 2 staff on the floor. We ordered starters which were eventually servedand were fine. However, the mains were served to myself ,my son and my grand children. My granddaughter had finished her meal and my daughter in law was still waiting for her meal. Very bad service as the same thing happened at the table next to us. Its very unlikley we will return.

First time visiting Ellie Mays and will defo be the last. On arrival bar staff were ignorant, unhelpful and looked sad to be working. The girl with the blonde hair and glasses was so unhelpful and ignorant informing us we didnt have time to decide what we wanted as the kitchen was 5 minutes from closing, this immediately put pressure on us. The food was well 2/10 at the most the price didnt reflect the quality nor the presentation. The hole experience was not pleasant and we wont be visiting again. Went today for a birthday lunch and after the server in top of the town was horrible we left and stumbled across Ellie May’s. I’ve never been as delighted to have bad service in top of the town as it worked out great by finding us Ellie May’s. The service was fantastic and staff friendly and fast. The restaurant has little nooks to sit which I prefer, it has a warm and friendly feel and lighting that’s perfect and isn’t too bright like many other places. My lasagne was beautiful and served with my choice of salad which was plentiful and had a delicious dressing. My husband had a chicken dish which he said was lovely. The portion sizes are brilliant and reasonably priced. I really can’t wait...

I’ve no axe to grind here, just giving an honest review. We are not from this area but we were in the vicinity visiting a donkey sanctuary and dropped in for a spot of lunch. Never been before just went on speculation. Wife had a starter of breaded garlic mushrooms then two mains of the house burger with chips. Wasn’t looking haute cuisine or Michelin rated, just a fairly decent tasty lunch. Mushrooms were shop bought, fair enough, but deep fried (probably a number of times or at least partially prior for convenience) to within an inch of devastation. Virtually inedible, some stale salad and garlic sauce thrown on the plate as an afterthought, horrible!!! This unfortunately didn’t bode well...

My partner and I called in here for a bite to eat last Monday on my way back from Belfast. If there was a spot for no stars, that is what I would give this place. I wantedd to complain but my partner told me not to as he didn't want to make a scene. Im so sorry I didn't now. I ordered chicken goujons and garlic, and he had the pitta chicken. His chicken was like charred rubber it was so overcooked. My meal was like a plate of grease. The goujonsweres just pure grease on a plate. I scraped the batter off and tried to eat the chicke, but it was like goo. The garlic fries were in a bowl of grease. The young waiter who lifted the plates just did that and no more.
