"After we ordered drinks at the bar, we placed our food order. The server informed us there would be a 30-minute wait. We ordered dressed crab, mussels, and fish and chips, but were told that there were no mussels left. So, we opted for another serving of fish and chips instead. When the food finally arrived (well before the 30-minute wait), it was just okay. My mother’s fish and chips were overcooked and dry, while mine was slightly better but still bland and dry as well. Overall, the experience was quite disappointing. We decided to cut our losses and left to get ice cream elsewhere. It wouldn’t hurt the staff to show a smile, and a lesson in manners and customer service would certainly be beneficial."

The food and service were outstanding. However, the restrooms could use some attention.

This is the only restaurant we choose when we're in Maldon. The food is freshly prepared, the service is outstanding, and the prices are very reasonable.

The location is very good for the Quay and the staff couldn’t have been more attentive. Food was excellent but my fish and chips were piled on top of each other on a small plate so I had to eat most of the fish first.

we sat outside and had the seafood plate for two, the 25 option. the food was delicious, fresh, and that was accompanied to die. no mistake he found with the food except that the platter might have been bigger. between 2 it is for a very easy lunch and they eat the bread to fill it. View menu

It was very disappointing. Special meal for Father’s Day was ruined as we waited an hour for our food and then it turned up cold and without a side dish we ordered. We fed our complaint back to staff at the end of the meal but despite this they still charged us for the missing side dish and did not offer anything off the bill by way of apology.

Average at best , I really wanted to like this place as i love fish and new to the area so thought this would be a local go to for me , unfortunately not , service was incredibly slow but that was probably down to the bar staff ordering the one waitress here there and everywhere , the food was soo over done with garlic and oil no pun intended but my fish dishes were swimming in it , didn’t get time to order desert as they shut the kitchen at not long after 8 ! The menu had potential but was poorly executed in my opinion

"We come to Maldon fairly regularly and occasionally stay over. The New Pavilion is was one of our favourite go to restaurants. We arrived at 7:30, as booked, and were very happy to see the front restaurant full except for our table for two. We ordered drinks at the bar and sat at our table. Maybe we should have been more aware of the situation when, after about 15 minutes, we had to tell the staff we were now ready to order. The young waitress was very apologetic and we said it was no problem, not her fault as she was doing two jobs waitressing and covering the bar as the barman had literally disappeared and was occasionally seen serving an old meal. Now we were waiting. 40 minutes? During this time we noticed a number of people shaking their heads at the staff. People walking out after questioning the service and the delay. The poor waitress, we could literally hear her in the back room crying. When our starters came we cancelled our main courses. My wife said my baked Camembert looked like a crème brûlée. I did eat it though and pay for it. I was not going to put the waitress through any more stress. I spoke to the barman as we were leaving and he seemed very surprised that I mentioned the overload of work the waitress was doing covering both jobs. He never said what he was doing during his absence. I did say that as he was obviously not the owner it was probably not his fault as well. All the tables in our corner agreed with what I told the bar manager and we’re about to leave without food. I will be very interested to see the owners reply and any excuse he comes up with. There’s no excuse. Get more staff. Hopefully the waitress has walked across the road to a top restaurant that treat their staff better. She was brilliant and deserved better treatment."
