"Stopped at Helen's Teashop in Burton upon Trent for a cup of coffee and a snack when passing through the area. It is a traditional' cafe that seems to appeal in the main to a more mature senior clientele. Plenty of things to choose...from but I went for a regular latte coffee and an Eccles Cake, taken at one of their Market Square outside tables. The Eccles Cake had a very nice base, almost like toffee and it went down very well with my coffee. The Eccles Cake was also good value. In general Helen's Cafe was pleasant enough but I just felt it was a little too dated to entice me back regularly. Highly recommend the Eccles Cakes though!"

Very friendly and welcoming. Afternoon tea was delicious and what we couldn't eat was packaged up to take home.

"The vegan mint cake at this restaurant is outstanding. I highly recommend it to anyone looking for a delicious dessert. It is much better than what you can find elsewhere, and it is handmade with love."

The restaurant has a nice ambiance and the service is attentive. They have many homemade items on display. However, I was disappointed with my choice of meal - the handmade burger looked like it came from a freezer. It was disappointing especially since some of the other meals looked great.

I would definitely recommend the metzger the best breakfast as they can choose what they are from 4 articles up to 8 items, the choice is very good. all the foods were freshly cooked to order and very well cooked and was very delicious. nothing is...too much annoyed for the personal and it is a nice pleasant atmosphere.

We come from the other side of Tamworth literally to come to Helen's. Have to bring the grandkids of course for their afternoon tea. Always made to feel welcome and staff are always friendly. Recent visit meant that we were seated outside, but the staff...are as attentive and food great. Clean and safe. Give them a go, don't bother with Greggs!

During our visit to Burton-on-Trent, we stopped by Helen's for breakfast to kickstart our day. The breakfast we had was truly amazing. It included a Staffordshire oat cake with cheese, two bacon strips, a sausage, black pudding, a fried egg, baked beans, toast, and coffee. I have had many breakfasts in my life, and I must say that this may have been one of the best ones yet. The ingredients were top quality, cooked perfectly, and served by friendly and polite staff. The cost was reasonable and definitely worth it. We will definitely be returning.

"Firstly we have been regular patrons of Favourite Thai since it opened. Under the previous owner who retired a couple of years ago it was truly excellent in all respects and I considered it my favourite restaurant in the UK. We have celebrated numerous birthdays, Valentines and anniversaries there. When the owner retired a manager was appointed and initially it was much the same. Don’t know who owns or runs it now but having not visited for some months last nights experience was truly shocking. First the famous Favourite Thai sharing starter. Gone was the fabulous Thai crab cake and carrot salad to be replaced with a range of fried items all in the same shade of beige and including that most traditional Thai item a battered onion ring. There were also two small spare ribs in hoisin sauce so not exactly Thai. Next our favourite: sea bass with mango, chillies and Thai basil. Normally this is sea bass in a light tempura butter with a salad of sour mango, cherry tomatoes and onions, chillies, coriander and basil with a lime based dressing which cuts the batter. This was two pieces of cod which appeared and tasted like they had come from the local chippy with mango on top but no tomatoes, virtually no onion, no discernible chilli or basil and two coriander leaves. The taste was overwhelmingly of cooking oil and the mouth feel was vile. The fish would have been ok with a side order of chips and mushy peas but was about as Thai m tasting as my husband’s socks. The Pad mee noodles are normally full of spring onions and bean sprouts and dressed with fried chopped garlic. There was no garlic and virtually no vegetables. Just a dollop of very greasy noodles that what I ate sat on my stomach like lead. The real shocker though was the service. We were offered one drink at the beginning and nothing else throughout the meal. Service used to be superb with complimentary water and prawn crackers on every table. After finishing as best we could the disappointing mains we sat back and waited for the dessert menu. Puds here used to be lovely and frankly I needed something to take away the taste of cooking oil. The lady who seemed to be in charge came over took the plates and said with no word of apology “do you want anything else because I need this table?” Our answer was “no. We will have the bill please”. This was £60. For the first time in my life I didn’t leave a tip but I will leave you one: avoid, avoid, avoid."
