"My friend and I are both incredibly fond of Japanese food and we wanted to see a Viennese take on the cuisine while we were staying in Vienna for five days. We ended up going twice to this fantastic restaurant after discovering it online. The sushi is simply wonderful, fresh and beautifully prepared - it's an authentic pleasure that is done very well in both Sashimi and Nigiri form.We also tried Hidori's Gyoza, Tako Karaage & various ice cream desserts, but the real wonder of this place is the Ramen. The Shoyu Ramen is absolutely exquisite. Just the right amount of broth with phenomenally succulent ham and seasoning within, it's a real pleasure to enjoy.Service was very nice, with some very pleasant servers, albeit a little slow at times. The atmosphere is great, especially with friends, the one downside being the restaurant getting rather hot due to lack of air conditioning (so dress lightly!). None of it is a deal breaker though, it was well worth the food. :)Hidori was a very pleasant experience that I hope will remain in Vienna for a long time to come. Thank you for the lovely food and we'll see you guys next time!- Harry (& Nick)"

The food is good, but the prices are relatively high. Service is relatively slow. Will take a break from Hidori, but may try again in a few months or so.

After reading the reviews written by others, we expected a lot more than the disappointing dinner we ate. When we entered the restaurant, there was a very strong smell of oil and smoke from the kitchen. So strong was the smell, that we couldn't taste the food that we were eating. Portions were small and overpriced. View menu

Although the appearance is not very slick, the taste is excellent. We where very friendly helped by the waitresses and had a great time. I ordered warm rice wine, and usually you get it. This time they showed us they had a great deal of different types of wines, in fact telling me they really care about the food and wine. Will gladly come back.

We came with a lot of expectations to Hidori, based on the rating here in TripAdvisor. We chose the chef's special menu (~4 courses) with an Umeshu to drink. The plates we received were various and good. It let us experience typical dishes of the restaurant.Out of the dishes we have tried, our favorites were the butter fish and the sushi. We enjoyed the crab in tampura mostly because it was a new experience, but we can not really recommend it for its taste mostly since we're not so much into deep fried food oil-taste.Overall it was a very nice experience and we will definitely return to try more.
