"at the weekend for lunch, got a vegetable tart and fiancé a burger. both enjoyed eating! the chips are an interesting cut almost in a v-shape that gives extra surface for kratzer! very delicious. from their selection of sweet tasty we ordered a lemon meringue tea (very good) and a piece of treacle tea as I have never tried. no idea what I expected, but it was too sweet for me! if they have a big sweet tooth, though they like it and maybe with a bitter coffee to break the sweet one. it was also a bigger place than we had expected and seemed kind of dog from the number of dogs outside, which is always a plus! would like to hear some background music being played, but have noticed that is not usual in Britain"

"i came here as there was good reviews but i had a terrible experience. sat down was 30 minutes before someone took our drinks order, infact we had to ask if we could order drinks and there was only two other tables. and then only one drink came another 20 mins later to say they have ran out of ingredients for the cocktail i wanted so to chose another , which i did.. but took another 20 minutes and my food had arrived by this time. half way through my lunch they came back with half a drink made saying they have ran out of another ingredient for that drink also… an hour down with still no drink. food was good but service terrible and inexperienced. table next to us looked annoyed also waiting at table for some time with no menu given"

"Despite its less than appealing exterior, don't let the building itself deter you from trying this restaurant. The decor may be a bit worn, with scratched tables and dim lighting, but the food more than makes up for it. Locals clearly enjoy the menu, as the restaurant was bustling on a Monday evening. The dishes may not be considered high-end cuisine, but they are tasty, generously portioned, and budget-friendly. Even the side salad impressed with fresh and quality ingredients. While it may not be worth a long drive for dinner, it's a convenient stop off the A9. For locals, it's a pleasant neighborhood spot with a great view of the Moray Firth. Service can be brusque, unless you're a regular, in which case you'll likely enjoy some lively conversation and banter."

"Hotel is under new ownership. They are updating and it looks so much better than previous photos you may find on the internet. There’s still a ways to go. Beds are extremely “firm”. Individual rooms are decorated with lots of billowing dusty fabrics, and still need a lot of updating. You may be scalded while showering if another guest flushes the toilet or turns on the cold water anywhere in the building. The showers in general need to be addressed. Shower curtains were flimsy plastic that blow around while you shower and stick to you… which is not pleasant especially because they’re mildewed in places. The staff was extremely friendly. Sitting in the lounge and enjoying a drink from the bar was a highlight. The main area of the hotel is very nicely re-done, and staff treat you well. Would visit again as I met the owner and can tell he’s working to improve it."
