"Visited today for a couple of cold drinks and ended up having a late lunch which came highly recommended by Kirsty the barmaid who quite rightly was proud to advertise good food. My friend and I both had breaded fish and chips, his with peas...and mine with salad and coleslaw. Fish was large, thick and lovely. Chips were also lovely and not the usual frozen variety most pubs use salad was fresh and coleslaw was delicious. We both left full and very happy with our meals. Kirsty was lovely very accommodating and an overall joy to converse with. I never caught the chefs name but he was also very friendly and took time to speak to us and obviously cooks a great meal. I will definitely be visiting again and look for to trying the steaks which Kirsty has also recommended. Overall the price was very fair for the portion size and quality of the food. I would not hesitate to return if passing in the future and will definitely schedule another visit in the near future."

disabled parking for the side, but badly marked. the area was quiet so we were served immediately. T-bone steak on the menu couldn't resist because I haven't had one for years. reasonable price at £19.95 plus £ 1.50 for pfeffer sauce. perfect made for...I, while I fought to finish the chips and rabbits eating. well worth a visit, but I suggest booking at a weekend as it can be busy. Had a lovely meal last night at this excellent establishment. Pleasantly surprised by the quality of the food and friendly efficient service. We were welcomed as soon as we entered by the bar staff and when we examined their food menu decided to have something...to eat. The waitresses in the lounge were full of enthusiasm and entered into friendly banter with our party. Huge portions, well presented and delicious. Good value and a good range of beers. Deserts to die for including Apple Pie, Raspberry Cheesecake and chocolate Fudge Cake. Home made Steak Pie and Whale size Fish served with French fries and lovely salad. Although everyone was friendly we must single out Kodie and Charlie for ex...

We have always had a great experience here but today was awful. We had Lucy our dog with us, so we ate in the Public Bar. Husband ordered breaded haddock and I requested a well done burger with cheese. The fish was crumbly and I...don’t think it was haddock cheaper alternative. My burger arrived cheese wasn’t melted and the roll was ice cold and wet. I thought they cooked on the premises? When I told the waitress, she felt the roll with her hand, agreed it was cold and then took it back to kitchen. When she returned she said that she hoped the meal was now okay and she would return to check which she didn’t. When I paid the manager asked if all was ok with meal and I explained not really, sh...

"Had been recommended this by a friend who said he had visited regularly last year so thought we would give it a go! Overall really disappointing experience and we won’t be back even with the offer of a free breakfast! We entered the cafe which was fine, took our seat and my husband went and ordered. All good and easy enough. we ordered a breakfast, scrambled egg on toast, poached egg on toast with a side of veggie haggis x 2. When it came out there was no veggie haggis on one when my husband said to the server we had ordered it she rudely said you didn’t order that you only asked for one, when he explained what he said she said you never and I haven’t charged you. My husband went and paid for a side of veggie haggis and the same women then said abruptly to the kitchen, that man never ordered that. She told us it would be three mins, at least ten mins passed and everyone was finished their breakfast except me who was waiting on my veggie haggis whilst my poached eggs and toast went cold. My husband went up to ask about it and she told us it wasn’t even cooking yet, he got a refund for the haggis and came back to the table, the eggs by this point were cold so we took it back up and again the same rude women said, is there a problem abruptly! We asked for a refund and another lady apologised and offered a free one next time. She was nice enough but didn’t make up for the other terrible member of staff who clearly sees customers as an inconvenience! Other than that we found some annoyances. We got fresh orange juice, advertised as Folkingtons fresh orange at £3.45, what is actually available is princes 200ml carton of fresh orange which you pay 60p for. Also as a side note, why do you send scrambled egg on toast etc out with a side of butter, are we supposed to scrape the mound of egg off to put butter on before putting the egg back on? Won’t be back purely down to the worst customer service I have ever experienced!"
