"My New York Jewish husband and I love London, but miss the great food we could so easily get in the enclaves of NYC and Long Island. Well, we have found something even better Monty’s deli. No exaggeration that the food is excellent. From the perfectly prepared latkes, tender and flavourful (generous) pastrami sandwich, not to mention the chopped liver, like you can’t believe. And then there was the shabbat dinner. You will write home about the chicken that is better than what your mother made juicy, full of flavour and so moist. The veggies and potatoes are cooked with yum! Oh, then the kugel like dessert. And so much food. We’re taking my brother in law when he comes from the States next month (the smart professor who travels the world and rates places on their food). He’ll be jealous because he doesn’t live here!"

I’ve had a lot of them, so I’m pretty confident about that statement, as well as the ALL CAPS title. I had the mixed meat sandwich (with chips and extra pickles) and it blew me away. Loved it!

Being first time at Old Spitalfields Market we were overwhelmed by wide range of food stalls there. We were lucky to choose pastrami at Monty's Deli. Juicy pastrami, tasty pickles and smooth bread. We will come back again.

I absolutely loved the latke reuben at this restaurant and highly recommend asking for it without sriracha if you are vegetarian. The pickle was also delicious with a sweet and subtle vinegar flavor. I will definitely be returning to this restaurant. View menu

Went in for lunch but nothing on menu grabbed us and we just had a tea and coffee. The drinks were priced at £2 each and were nothing special, small tea pot and small cups. The bill added 50p on for gratuity service. Not impressed and will not go back.

I have dined at Monty's several times and it never fails to impress. Their Rueben sandwich is absolute perfection, especially when you double it up and add some pickles on the side. I've been to a few of their locations, but I highly recommend visiting the Hoxton location - it's the ideal spot to savor your sandwich.

Went to the Spitalfields stall during a weekend in London. It was VERY BUSY but when you bite into one of their Reuben Specials, you'll understand why! This is a thing of beauty. For us Northerner's the price is a bit of a shock (thirteen quid for a sandwich?!? , but we all deserve a treat every now and again and I would strongly recommend you treat yourself. View menu

Who knew in the heart of London there is Deli food as good as some of the best delis in the USA. Salt Beef, which is like corned beef was absolutely fantastic, as where the bagels. If you need a bit of Comfort food when you are on your a trip I strongly advise Monty's. Also the prices are better than the USA. Its the real deal take if from a deli professional.

We had been meaning to try Monty's Deli in Old Spitalfields Market for a while now, and we finally made it there. The restaurant was crowded with few available seats, but we lined up and placed our order. Unfortunately, we were very disappointed with the food. The salt beef on stale rye bread was dry, tasteless, and chewy, and came with only a scanty watery pickled cucumber for £13. The latkes were bland and severely undercooked in the middle. The challah roll with smoked salmon and what seemed like egg was repulsive. For £28 (for 2 people), we could have gotten much better food for a lower price at Beigel Bake in Brick Lane. It was truly a terrible dining experience. Save yourself the troub...
