"Visited here as had vouchers to spend. Just glad we hadn 't had to pay for the meal. The only decent item was the wheaten bread served with the soup. Brisket 'parcels ', flavourless and dry. Main 1 was sirloin not cheap asked for medium but wasn 't properly seared so raw and also unseasoned. Chips were reasonable but not crispy. Plate overloaded with onion rings, coleslaw, wilted greens, strange garlic half tomato. Main 2 was fish and chips, huge portion of battered fish crispy at either end but soggy throughout. Clearly shop bought tartar sauce. Peas were edible. Our voucher was £100 and we actually left having used only £80 of the vouchers as we couldn 't stomach dessert(drinks were not included in the vouchers). So a very expensive and unfortunately poor evening spent in Newcastle. Will NEVER return to this bar restaurant. All of our plates were collected barely eaten but unquestioned. Avoid if you can. Price per person: £40–50 Food: 1 Service: 3 Atmosphere: 3"

Dog friendly bar in the centre of town. They served a lovely pint of Guinness and had lots of TV screens showing Sky Sports, so it was a great place to spend a Sunday afternoon watching the match. Nice food, quick service. Top class place. Price per person: £10–20 Food: 4 Service: 5 Atmosphere: 5

When I returned from hiking and requested food, the same staff member asked me if I had a dog. I said no, and she informed me that I would have to go to the restaurant to eat, as dining in the bar was only allowed for those with dogs. Fortunately, we spoke with another lovely employee who took care of my food order and was incredibly kind and accommodating. I also noticed that other customers were able to eat in the bar without a dog. The waitress in question, who had brightly colored hair, seemed to have a bit of an attitude problem. I hope management takes note of this issue. Despite this experience, the pub is a perfect place! Food: 5 Service: 4 Atmosphere: 5

"On a Monday afternoon, my dining companions and I had a special occasion and decided to try out a unique and intriguing vegan menu at the restaurant. We started with the Beetroot starter, which was delicious and very light. The fermented barley starter had a peculiar taste that I had never experienced before, but it was warm and essential. For the main course, I had the stuffed dish, which was artistic, delicious, and very light. The pudding was advertised as peach, blood orange, and ink red, but it turned out to be sorbet on crispy crumbs, which was still very delicious. We also shared a side of Veg, which was recommended to us as part of the tasting menu. However, we found that the tasting menu lacked enough courses and felt that additional dishes like bread, veggies, and potatoes should be offered to prevent hunger. The prices of the additional dishes were not listed on the menu, and we felt that they could be a bit exaggerated, especially given the cost of a glass of wine at £8. Despite these concerns, we appreciated the creativity and effort put into the menu development and the preparation of the dishes. We recommend trying out this restaurant and supporting their venture, but suggest ordering extra dishes and opting for at least three courses if you're not too hungry. We ended up going elsewhere for coffee and a vegan dessert to feel more satisfied. We were impressed by the fact that the dishes were plant-based rather than just vegan and would definitely consider returning in the future."
