"We've been in Newcastle for the weekend, this pub is lovely and all, but one, of the serving staff brilliant. My sister in law has big mobility issues and loved sitting near the roaring fire, but when she asked for food, was told she had to go to the restaurant, which for someone with mobility issues isn't easy. I was away hiking and when I returned, I asked for food, this lady said to me, do you have a dog! I replied no, so she stated I would have to go to the restaurant, I couldn't eat in bar, if no dog. We spoke to another lovely girl, who brought me my food and couldn't have been nicer or more helpful. İt was also noted that other customers were eating with no dog. The waitress in question seems to have attitude issues, a lady with brightly coloured hair. I hope the management will take note of this. Apart from this, perfect place! "On a Monday afternoon, my dining companions and I had a special occasion and decided to try out a unique and intriguing vegan menu at the restaurant. We started with the Beetroot starter, which was delicious and very light. The fermented barley starter had a peculiar taste that I had never experienced before, but it was warm and essential. For the main course, I had the stuffed dish, which was artistic, delicious, and very light. The pudding was advertised as peach, blood orange, and ink red, but it turned out to be sorbet on crispy crumbs, which was still very delicious. We also shared a side of Veg, which was recommended to us as part of the tasting menu. However, we found that the tasting menu lacked enough courses and felt that additional dishes like bread, veggies, and potatoes should be offered to prevent hunger. The prices of the additional dishes were not listed on the menu, and we felt that they could be a bit exaggerated, especially given the cost of a glass of wine at £8. Despite these concerns, we appreciated the creativity and effort put into the menu development and the preparation of the dishes. We recommend trying out this restaurant and supporting their venture, but suggest ordering extra dishes and opting for at least three courses if you're not too hungry. We ended up going elsewhere for coffee and a vegan dessert to feel more satisfied. We were impressed by the fact that the dishes were plant-based rather than just vegan and would definitely consider returning in the future."
