"I was very impressed with this tea garden, which I visited for the first time for lunch. I ate with friends. The choice on the menu was incredibly varied and I was surprised and delighted) that there was such a huge vegan and vegetarian choice. Normally there are only one or two things on any menu that I can eat as I’m vegetarian/pescatarian who doesn’t like cheese which can be awkward, believe me), but not here, I was spoilt for choice. I opted fur the vegetarian sausage sandwich, which came on granary bread with a generous portion of crisps and salad…then chose chocolate brownie. It was again a generous portion and was served warm. I gave to say it was the best chocolate brownie I’ve ever tasted. Would definitely return."

"I am gluten-free and for the first time in years I had the cheese and leak tea, with gf chips, plus they do chicken wing starters, unusual to find this in a small pub, definitely recommend it for other foods, very good prices with meals for 2. and drink very reasonable."

"Went there for dinner on Wednesday evening there was only one other table being used a dad and his two children . It was a banquet night for £14.95 for any starter excluding fish and prawn dishes any main except fish and prawn you pay £2.50 extra on starters for any of those dishes and £3.50 on mains,and any side dish and any rice or a naan each. I had a mixed starter and my wife had chicken chat both nice the mains she had mixed grill but it came with king prawns we don't know how many 1 or 2 but they wanted to charge me £3.50 for the dish just coming with a couple of prawns rather than a whole king prawn dish unbelievable but hey he said he would do it without king prawn so that's what she had expensive for what she got. I had a chicken tikka dansak it was ok not the best and we shared a mushroom rice and a keema naan which I sent back as there was no meat in it that I could see and all soggy and oily on top ,which they did a new one ,better. Pint of cobra each job done it was ok wouldn't go back even for their banquet night but try it for yourselves."

"I’ve been here before and been given the old waffle about them liking tips in cash but now they actually print on the bill “service charge not included. Gratuities cannot be left on credit or debit cards as 100% of tips are shared between staff” I eat out a lot at all types of restaurant I’ve literally never ever had a bill like this with this wording insisting on cash tips Since covid I just don’t carry cash and I would imagine many people do the same All other restaurants I have been to without exception either add a service charge or allow a tip/gratuity to be added to the bill and in both cases the total bill can be paid for by credit or debit card These restaurants all then split the tip/gratuity between the staff by including their share in their wages which then ensures that tax is paid on the tips/gratuity as the law requires so this still ensures that “100% of tips are shared between staff” as the bill wishes The tip/gratuity if paid in cash like at this restaurant still needs to be declared to HMRC and I assume the staff/restaurant do this The advantage of allowing the tip/gratuity to be paid by credit or debit card is that this separate disclosure to HMRC is not required as it is dealt with through the businesses payroll system and tax applied accordingly"

"visited the opposite and was on a narrow time frame. managed to stumble this little gem. there were parking places right outside, which was helpful, and the waiter could not have been nicer. eating was simply delicious and perfect. we had a...small baby, and they didn't hit an eyelid on the chaos she did when she had eager feeding from eating that she couldn't eat fast enough (we have clean it up the lunch menu was competitive, and worth every penny."
