"The service was friendly, polite, and fast, but not rushed. The Sunday roast was delicious, offering a selection of meats, including beef, chicken, pork, or even all three if you wanted. The cheese was cooked perfectly and served hot. The desserts were equally delightful, with the cherry-filled pancakes being a standout recommendation from our waitress. The apple dish, coated with cinnamon and sugar, was also very tasty. The seating was comfortable, and the location in the bay window was beautiful. The staff went above and beyond for us. I definitely recommend visiting!"

I only popped in for a quick drink whilst waiting for a cab. I usually wouldn’t review after such a short period at a place but the friendly welcoming and clean environment was so apparent I really would feel bad not leaving a review. Thanks guys! Really nice venue and people! View menu

A good selection of real ale’s with very good food. The bar staff and waitresses were good and very helpful. I would suggest booking a table in advance, as it can be very busy. I highly recommend. The food was delicious, and I appreciated the variety on the menu, especially for vegans. The service was excellent, and there was convenient parking available; I have a mobility issue, so I was grateful to be able to park right next to the pub. Overall, it was a fantastic experience, and I will definitely be back. Well done! View menu

Thanks so much for squeezing us in... We thought our friends had booked a table and they thought we had, so, when we got there the only tables were outside! Great, but it was lashing it down! The torrent of rain was harsh so the next alternative was to sit at the darts table, but as we are not that good at darts, or even good at ducking the darts while eating was not an option

"We come to Maldon fairly regularly and occasionally stay over. The New Pavilion is was one of our favourite go to restaurants. We arrived at 7:30, as booked, and were very happy to see the front restaurant full except for our table for two. We ordered drinks at the bar and sat at our table. Maybe we should have been more aware of the situation when, after about 15 minutes, we had to tell the staff we were now ready to order. The young waitress was very apologetic and we said it was no problem, not her fault as she was doing two jobs waitressing and covering the bar as the barman had literally disappeared and was occasionally seen serving an old meal. Now we were waiting. 40 minutes? During this time we noticed a number of people shaking their heads at the staff. People walking out after questioning the service and the delay. The poor waitress, we could literally hear her in the back room crying. When our starters came we cancelled our main courses. My wife said my baked Camembert looked like a crème brûlée. I did eat it though and pay for it. I was not going to put the waitress through any more stress. I spoke to the barman as we were leaving and he seemed very surprised that I mentioned the overload of work the waitress was doing covering both jobs. He never said what he was doing during his absence. I did say that as he was obviously not the owner it was probably not his fault as well. All the tables in our corner agreed with what I told the bar manager and we’re about to leave without food. I will be very interested to see the owners reply and any excuse he comes up with. There’s no excuse. Get more staff. Hopefully the waitress has walked across the road to a top restaurant that treat their staff better. She was brilliant and deserved better treatment."
