"The food was mediocre at best, and the service was just okay. What really ruined the experience for us was when we refused to pay the automatic 10% gratuity charge. I believe that tipping should be a voluntary gesture from customers to staff, and that everyone deserves to be paid a fair wage without relying on tips. When we settled our bill without including the gratuity, the server inquired why we hadn’t paid it and if there was something wrong with our meal or service. I simply replied that I couldn’t afford it. In response, he turned away in a huff, said nothing, and walked off. To me, it came off as quite arrogant. If we choose to tip, that should be our decision, not an expectation. I won’t be returning to this restaurant again."

I came in yesterday evening, the food was alright. The table staff that served us was fantastic, but the atmosphere took a turn when some sort of argument started happening in the kitchen. Some guy with a hat and glasses was shouting and swearing a lot, coming in and out of the kitchen area and into the service area. Not sure if this is a regular occurrence but I won't be returning to find out. Food: 3

I dined in for lunch and had a wonderful experience. The food was exceptional, earning a solid 5 out of 5. The standout dishes were the Rack of Lamb, which was cooked to perfection, and the Fudge Brownie, a delightful end to the meal. The service was also commendable, receiving a 4 out of 5, with staff being attentive and friendly. The atmosphere of the restaurant was pleasant, also rating a 4. Considering the quality of the meal, the price per person was reasonable, falling between £20-30. I highly recommend this place!

"Our second visit was even better than our first and that was great! My wife and I visited the Puckersley with friends who live close by. It was our second visit and we remembered that the food was good. A new menu had been introduced just that evening (Friday the 13th) and I noticed a selection of “Rice Bowls” from which I chose the King Prawn option. I can’t fully remember the menu description but it was something like “Salt and Pepper Spicy King Prawns Rice Bowl” MY GOODNESS! I have eaten in some fancy places and never have I been more surprised and delighted by a dish than I was that night. It was served beautifully, the prawns were lightly battered like Tempura prawns they were on a bed of egg fried rice surrounded by a lovely sauce containing goodness knows how many different chilli peppers and beautifully diced vegetables. It was even more enhanced by some greenery (sorry, i forgot what it was) which reminded me of a lightly fried rocket which just melted in your mouth. The dish is a TRIUMPH and must not be missed. I look forward to trying the other versions of this dish on our next visit and we will certainly visit again. Our friends ordered steaks which arrived cooked exactly as they requested which is unusual in itself but not, our friends say, at the Puckersley! My wife could only look enviously at my bowl but fortunately reported that her Scampi was excellent too. The waiting staff (All girls as it happened) were very happy, smiling and extremely efficient too. DO NOT MISS THIS PUB, IT IS A GEM."

"My brother and his wife visited me from Co Durham and we called at this pub for lunch. The menu was limited but we all found something we could enjoy. I ordered Beer Battered Fish with the trimmings costing £11.95. When the fish arrived it looked a bit overcooked but as I ate it I realised that it was fish which I could have bought very cheaply from Iceland, and definitely not Beer Battered. My sister in law ordered Steak and Kidney Pie, this arrived rather obscured by the pile of garden peas, but as she moved the peas she discovered the smallest collapsed pie which had very little meat and was mainly gravy. The cost of this was about the same as the above described fish. My brother ordered the Beef burger. When this arrived it looked quite spectacular. The presentation was very good. Unfortunately the burger, according to my brother, tasted like a burger you would buy at a fairground or at a burger van at a car boot sale. Again this cost £11.95. When the waitress came to ask if all was ok we told her we were disappointed and she said thank you. No one came to see what the problem was. We did eat the food as we were all hungry but the only good thing about the meal were the peas. The chips were cold. The pub is in a lovely position, the décor s very nice, the bar staff were friendly and helpful. The food completely lets it down. How can they describe the fish that I had as Beer Battered ??? How can they charge top dollar for very low quality food?? One star for decor and friendly staff."
