"starters are over priced and could have been presented better ie rustic bread slices with butter and a salad garnish, however the mac cheese, and breaded fish were delicious, the dessert was lovely but felt that too was a tad pricey. Drinks were served how they should be and were presented well, would deffinately go back"

One star is being very generous... excessively generous, really.

The coffee here is fantastic, and if you're fortunate, you might even have the chance to meet Bob!

This is the most delicious breakfast I've enjoyed in quite a while. The black pudding was fantastic, and the bacon strips were perfectly crispy. I would highly recommend it! View menu

I'm very disappointed. The menu and overall business approach are exactly the same as before at Bonfire. You can change the name, but you can't change the essence of the business.

I visited today and had a great time! I enjoyed a few drinks outside in the sunshine before staying for dinner. The food was amazing, and the staff were incredibly friendly. I will definitely return!

The restaurant and pub has a warm and inviting atmosphere. They host karaoke on Fridays, which is a lot of fun, and the staff is really polite. The food is delicious, and I will definitely be returning! View menu

I ordered delivery and the food was good, but the portions were really small. I paid £6 for a burger that was about the size of a small McDonald's burger. I was even a bit envious of the kids' meal that CJ got! I'm still hungry.

"Having successfully completed a major project I took my team out as a small thank you. There were 5 of us and we arrived around 1030h for breakfast. We were greeted by the very .lovely Amy, who promptly seated us. She was polite, friendly and attentive. She took our drinks orders, then our breakfasts. We all opetd for the full Scottish at under a tenner each. The meal was fabulous, well cooked, piping hot and presented on high quality flatware with good cutlery. The sausages had a delicious crisp outer, the bacon was well done but not hard, the mushrooms were served in a wee bowl with chilli oil. The eggs were perfect, accompanied by a slice of chunky bread, haggis and black pudding. Beans finished it off brilliantly. The teapot was quirky and delightful. Alison, the owner was not only beautiful but very charming with it. She was involved in the serving of our meals and chatted to us as she served us, making us feel more than welcome. Five breakfasts with assorted lattes, cappuccinos and teas was under £70 so very reasonably priced too. I left a well deserved tip and Alison kindly let me know that the full tip always went to the serving staff, so very ethical too. My colleagues were all as suitably impressed as I was. I cannot recommend this place highly enough and the only shame is that my time in Bonnyrigg is over, and I dearly wished I'd found The Beetroot sooner."
