"I don’t normally add reviews but wanted to in this instance, to counterbalance the review from the individual that said he didn’t like it because someone was breastfeeding. It’s not really a reasonable thing to review somewhere based upon, since it happens everywhere (and is protected by law). There is also a sign on the door saying that they’re breastfeeding friendly, which as a feeding mother myself, gives me great comfort, since it can be worrisome to feed in public in case you meet one of the aforementioned individuals. They say that breastfeeding isn’t really their cup of tea. Well, it’s not supposed to be, it’s a baby’s but had they looked at the menu, they’d have seen that Spoon Cake offer a really wide range of teas. I’m sure one would have been more suitable. Anyhow, we digress. I regularly go here, it’s always great. The staff are brilliant, always super friendly and welcoming. There’s a huge range of cakes and light bites for all dietary requirements. I had my baby shower here and there was a coeliac amongst my guests. She was made a separate selection of gluten free things, so felt comfortable with what she was eating. It’s my favourite place to go for lunch with friends or family."

They serve good coffe and some really enticing cakes and pastries. Pity that my lunch was spoiled by a woman breast feeding her child. Not mu cup of tea, so won’t go there again

I want to give a big thank you to the wonderful staff at Spoon Cake for making a delicious and unique birthday cake for my mother's 80th birthday party. They did a fantastic job!

Lovely cafe. Cakes are exceptional and large in size, so easily shareable! My daughter had a scone, which she loved. I marked as helpful a comment on breastfeeding below, which I didn’t mean to, so apologies.

Picked up afternoon tea for two. The food was amazing. All sandwiches packed to overflowing with filling. Exceptionally tasty sausage rolls. The cakes were moist and delicious. We will definately be back for more. Amazing value too.

Lovely little place offering one of the of best gluten free Brownies I have ever had the pleasure of tasting! Very gooey and rich, perfect when paired with a black coffee (or a strong cup of tea). Alongside the Brownie I would also recommend the Salted Caramel loaf, crumbly, not too overpowering and nicely balanced with the buttercream icing and caramel drizzle.

I was impressed that this restaurant always offers vegan and gluten-free options. I tried the coconut and mango cake, which was alright but a bit dry. My partner enjoyed the chocolate cake. We also had a cheese scone and the onion marmalade and cheese quiche, which were delicious. My only suggestion would be to have a clear sign outside, as we initially had trouble finding the bakery but were pleasantly surprised by the experience once inside.

We stumbled upon this cafe on the High Street in Loddon by chance, looking for something to do on a chilly autumn day. Despite its proximity to a take away and funeral services, we were so glad we decided to check it out! The cafe offers a wide selection of cakes and some savory options, including vegan and gluten-free choices. We were impressed by the huge pot of tea and the charming tea room, complete with a well-equipped single toilet. The cafe is a family-run affair, with a mother and her two daughters baking everything on site. We had a delightful conversation with Lisa, who was very enthusiastic about their business. We only tried a quiche and a blackberry cake, but they were both deli...

"So disappointingBefore coming to the swan I had looked at the menu online, as my youngest child has allergies and is dairy free. It states on the menu that ‘light bites’ are GF and most can be adapted to be DF, brilliant! It was our last day of our holiday and I thought I’d treat them to a nice lunch out before heading home. Where do I start, the service attitude from the lady behind the bar was shocking. I asked what could be made DF for my son and was told that there wasn’t anything and they don’t cater for allergies?! I pointed out on the menu that they state they can and was met with an eye roll basically. Anyway, I thought I would get him some chips, nope, they fry them in the same oil as the dairy and meat products we are vegetarian ! I then asked about the VEGAN dishes they had and I was told they are also cooked and prepared for alongside the meat products so they can’t guarantee they will actually be vegan!! By this point my daughters had already got excited about eating out and the play area that I couldn’t really back track, so I went against my better judgement and ordered 3 sandwiches on granary bread and a childrens fish chips. My son had a packet of crisps. The sandwiches arrived and were absolutely awful, the cheese and onion one was 2 slices of cheap shop bought bread with some pre grated cheese and a couple of slices of onion not even any butter! It wasn’t cheap, £45 for 4 soft drinks, 3 sandwiches and a child meal. Then there’s the play area, sharp screws poking up through the wood chip, lose sharp fixings on top of the slide, and a massive electric open cable under the swings! We swiftly left, it was such a bad end to our holiday and should have been our final hurrah before driving home. Was appalled at their attitude towards me, was treated like an inconvenience, food was awful, please don’t eat there if you are Vegan, although the dish is vegan ? they certainly don’t take the steps necessary to keep it away from meat, and definitely not safe for anyone with an allergy. Such a shame as the location is so pretty with the river opposite, we were excited and left feeling really disappointed. Will not be back."
