"We have visited Tai Pan now Tai Wu many times before. We love the food. Our children has come back for Easter and hence we decided to have lunch at Tai Wu, Manchester, Sunday the 7th of April. I did call up to book a place but was told that just turn up. So I thought, it must be quiet. Wrong!! Massive queue. Nevermind, you have to wait for good things in life. So we settled down to wait and eventually was led to a table. Wait for it, Table 13! Maybe that was an omen. We ordered drinks, starters and main course all at the same time. Drinks and starters were served in due course and then there was a long gap. We had some left overs from starters, seeing that the waitress gave us some take away boxes, which we thought were strange as usually that is given at the end of the meal. Still waiting. It was very difficult to get any attention of any of the waiters but eventually caught the eye of one. We explained that we have not been served the mains. It was getting late and we did not want to get caught up in the football traffic as Man Utd was playing Liverpool. The waiter apologised and we asked to take away the main course rather than eating there. That spoiled the whole experience. On top of that we had to pay for the service charge as well which should have been waived. I have emailed the restaurant about our experience but did not receive any acknowledgement and hence putting it out here. However, the food remains excellent and up until the mains, we were having a good time. Hopefully, this is a one off!"

This is a big place but very quickly filled up so, luckily, we had booked. Excellent service and tasty food. Despite being busy, we never felt rushed. We will fo back when next in Manchester where our granddaughter is a student

Though now called Tai Wu, this restaurant was amazing. I have lived in Asia for a while, and was craving good dim sum. Huge selection of Dim Sum, Szechuan, and Cantonese dishes. Can’t wait to come back to try some roast dishes. Everything was delicious.

We came pre theatre in Manchester, but made it a late lunch rather than early dinner so that we could get dim sum. We were a party of 5 so got a range of dim sum, some veggie, some meat, all were excellent. Service was good and the food came quickly. Good value too. Recommended. (BTW the restaurant is now called Tai Wu, but still at 81-97 Upper Brook Street)

Nice food, comfortable environment and the staff are attentive. Parking is a little tricky as you would have expected it to be a bigger car park with it having both a Chinese supermarket as well as the restaurant above which also caters for weddings etc. Came for dim sum and it was very tasty, with quick service. Would come back again as it is very authentic here and everything was just right

Food is very good. Would have got more stars, but I found out at the end of the bill, They charge £1.50 per head for two pots tea between eight people, considering they just keep Topping up with hot water and not a pot of tea for everyone, and They added 10 percent sevice charge on top of it. This was not mention or printed on the menu or leaflet.. When enquiry was made, the waitress was very rude.. So the food gets full mark, but the way they operates leave a lot to be desire.

The food is authentic, suggest group people come together so can order many different types of dishes. Come here many times already, but this time we order the crispy roast pork belly. it suppost to be hot and crispy ,but this time it's room temperature, not very good, but their dimsum still recommended to order. The egg fried rice also tasty too. Their milk tea and ice lemon tea is a bit too sweet for me, I like to order their hot tea. But their location is not right in the city center, but very close to the university of Manchester, the restaurant ground floor is orient supermarket .

We visited here as it is close to our son’s uni accommodation and it was getting late and we had a long drive back home afterwards. We popped in on the off chance so were really pleased they could accommodate us at short notice. The restaurant itself seemed quite busy and we were asked for our order pretty much straight away. And that level of urgency continued throughout the meal. In fact it felt incredibly rushed to the extent that plates where being cleared before my son had finished his food (a personal pet hate for me). To top it off, I spilt some food on my blouse and proceeded to dab it with a red serviette from my side plate. Unfortunately the dye transferred to my white blouse and h...

"I've been to a couple of different Dishoom branches a few times and have never been disappointed by the breakfast options. The sausage naan roll is excellent. A couple of really tasty vegan sausages with some melted vegan cheese all wrapped up in a lovely soft naan and served with some sort of sweet chilli dipping sauce. My go to now is usually the vegan Bombay. It's a good hearty breakfast plate with... a couple of the same well seasoned vegan sausages. Some vegan tofu akuri a nicely spiced tofu scramble. Some very well cooked mushroom slices (that are maybe a wee bit under seasoned). The baked beans are really nicely spiced, elevating them far beyond the standard sweet sauce fare that's the usual. A few slices of well flavoured black pudding (that could be fried to being a bit crispier). A cooked tomato which is a bit dull, I've never been keen on tomatoes on my breakfast plate and this once has not changed my mind. It could do with some more charring and maybe some spicing. To help you mop everything up, the whole thing is served with a couple of soft bread buns that have been nicely toasted. I usually top the whole thing off with some chocolate chai with oat milk you get free refills for your chai. Unfortunately, it isn't wheelchair accessible. There are stairs up into the restaurant and various small flights of stairs to get to different parts of the restaurant. Updated from previous review on 2024 03 25"
