"My husband and I were recommended this place by our b&b and honestly the Anglers has the nicest food and people we met the entire week we were in the area. We didn't have a reservation but they were happy to seat us, the staff and owners were so friendly and excited that we were on our honeymoon that they made us a special dessert plate for our one week anniversary. The food was excellent, everything is made fresh on site and tasted like it. I was very impressed with the cleanliness in the ladies toilets and selection of feminine hygiene/baby changing products freely available for anyone that might need them, it was a very considerate thought. We would absolutely go back and hope to keep in touch."

Absolutely Fabulous, a cracking pub serving excellent food. The haggis starters, fish and chips and Paysanne salad were top notch but the fruit crumble was to die for. Highly highly recommended. The owners were so friendly and accommodating as well.

Food was truly fabulous. We had two fantastic pasta meals and the lemon desert tart was just out of this world! Staff and service excellent and they were brilliant with our pug, Hercules. We were just staying near there after breaking up our journey home to Newcastle and we're so pleased to have found this real gem. Loved it and we'll certainly be back. View menu

Came here for an anniversary meal with our family and we were not disappointed. A nice selection of food on the menu including for our daughter who is vegetarian. The food was excellent and the service throughout was helpful and welcoming and we got to see the chef to thank him for the delicious meal. Our youngest is still raving about the fish and chips!

The owners are so welcoming. We stopped for a coffee on the way to Balmoral castle. Would recommend a stop for everyone. Martine and her husband are so happy to provide a iphone charger free, use toilet facilities, open up before noon to help us out. Gave advice about local amenities for us on the way. We stopped on the way back. Highly recommend food, drinks and hospitality.

"This place has all the potential for a 5 star experience and you may well have it by going here! Unfortunately, we did not and it's worth explaining why. For context, we didn't stay overnight just had a meal in the restaurant one night and went to the beer garden another. Restaurant: Food was generally very good and prices reasonable. I'd especially recommend the tempura chard if it's on the menu! The setting of the restaurant is also lovely. However, we ended up waiting about an hour between starters and main meal 2 people . We were advised approx 40 minutes into the wait that one of the mains was no longer available and a substitute would be provided there was some gnocchi improvised from potato mash involved. Service were on top of this though and did remove this item from the bill. So in summary, good elements involved but a couple areas that could do with attention. Beer garden: We went along to the beer garden to catch the rugby world cup final. This was sadly quite a disappointing experience that ended up with the limited attendance clearing out before half time . In short, coverage only started after national anthems. No sound other than via headphones ?? , which didn't work ?! . Pizzas were pretty tasty but the cheese was stringy as a ball of yarn positive with no cutlery or tissues provided negative . And at c. £16 per pizza, felt a bit cheated by the whole experience. The rooms themselves look lovely and I'm sure on a summer's day if you're looking to enjoy some drinks and a bit of food in a lovely setting, the Taybank probably covers exactly what you're looking for! They also run a traditional music session in the main bar on a Thursday evening, which is absolutely worth checking out! But I'm afraid for us, it's unlikely we would rush back for anything other than that."
