"Bit of a disappointing experience last night. We waited over an hour for food and then when it was brought out some of it didn't arrive, server advised onion rings would be brought out shortly but didn't arrive no one about to ask and was starving by this point so we just ate. Brought it up when they brought the bill and asked if things were okay. Excuse was oh sorry we're a bit flustered tonight. No reduction on bill for missing item which we paid for and should have received. With my parents who paid the bill so didn't want to ruin their night complaining further but was very disappointing. If people pay for a part of the meal they should receive it or it should be discounted if they can't provide what is advertised."

I ordered the steak and ale pie. Probably one of the worst I’ve ever had. Meat was dry and tasteless and potatoes were tasteless as well. Pastry was also dry and horrible. Don’t go here. Avoid at all cost. At 16.95 you really expect a lot more. I’m not angry. I’m just disappointed : Service: 3 Location: 3

Charming, atmospheric hotel that's not seen a refurb in half a century but I loved it. It's like a cool dream about an old hotel. The mattress is terrible, the water pressure from the electric shower is low, the electric wall-mounter heaters smack of 1970s council house but see past it. The dining room is spectacular, the roaring fires are a thing of beauty and the breakfast is excellent. I'm giving 5 stars because it's enchanting and memorable in a way that few hotels are.

If you want to experience “old world charm”, this is the right place. Beautifully located opposite the castle park, this time-honored hotel invites you to travel back in time. Burning log fires in the pub, lobby and knight 's hall , soft Chesterfield sofas and really well-rounded furnishings make the whole thing complete. Even if you aren 't in Scotland to go salmon fishing or play golf, having an excellent breakfast in front of a roaring fire will give you the feeling of somehow being a lordship. Food drinks: The cozy pub offers typical Scottish, British and some Indian dishes. Fish and chips and the Venison curry were great and the drink selection and service left nothing to be desired.
