"We booked a private room for 14 guests. The whole event was handled very professionally with the pre-order menu being sent to guests the week before so the kitchen had sufficient time to source the local food we selected.On the night, the meal was wonderful. The dining room was quirky and perfectly laid out. The service was courteous, friendly and attentive.And the food was excellent. Each course offered a choice of the familiar or something unusual but everything was beautifully prepared and presented. Each dish had lots of different flavours and textures and it was great fun discussing and comparing.Everyone enjoyed the evening and I wholeheartedly recommend this restaurant."

The Black Rat has always been excellent. It is such a shame that it is closing down. It is our favorite restaurant in the Winchester area. Our thoughts are with the amazing staff, and we hope they are able to find new jobs and continue to provide the same quality of service they offered at the Black Rat. We typically go for lunch, and the price per person is usually around £70–£80.

The restaurant had a great staff who were all very professional and attentive. The decor and ambiance were lovely and inviting. The food was fabulous, definitely one of the top three meals I've had since lockdown. There was only one vegetarian option on the small menu, but that was expected. We parked at the well-lit multi-story parking lot a few minutes away. The dine-in service was excellent. The price per person was around £70-80.
