"Pleasant enough pub/restaurant myself and partner went for Sunday lunch we were attended pretty quick seeing they were quite busy got our drinks and menu to peruse and a few minutes later was asked for our order we both ordered the roast beef which was placed on the table about 10 minutes later first impressions of the meal was the roast potatoes were in my opinion over cooked and we were unfortunate to get 3 slices of beef that was quite gristly and difficult to chew but the rest on the plate was very nice,we also had a dessert which was extremely nice so overall i would give the Blue Anchor a very nice 7 out of 10."

Nice beer, but dreadful focaccia nearly £8 for four stale slices of bread. I complained to the barmaid who, to her credit, seemed to take what I said seriously.

Really excellent food, caring, friendly and competent staff. Good pub, plenty of room and quiet part separated from noisy end. Well attended, seems a popular local.

This was our first visit to The Blue Anchor, and we found it absolutely excellent. Great choices on the Menu, and really good and fast service. The food was very tasty indeed, and we had an excellent bottle of reasonably priced Rose. We shall return very soon

We would like to thank Amy her team for being able to accommodate our family at such a short notice. We contacted them the evening before, and even though they had a big event on, and the football, she was happy to fit all 14 of us in. The food was amazing and a great selection for vegetarians.

Well what can I say? The Blue Anchor has surpassed themselves yet again. We had a fantastic evening celebrating our daughter’s 21st birthday last night. From the venue, to the staff and the delicious food we can’t thank them enough. Thank you to Amy and all the staff for making it a great success.

We are 3 golden oldies and the staff were kind patient with our needs. We all had roast dinners (Sunday) the meat was tender full of flavour. Vegetables roast pots., red cabbage, cauliflower cheese, green beans, swede mash a massive Yorkshire pudding filled the plates, but we managed to eat everything because it was all so delicious. Also we were seated next to the log fire. What a treat, thank you to all staff.

The Blue Anchor Crowborough, what can I say. We have been coming to this pub for a long time. We had our wedding lunch here 5 years ago and each time we come it gets better. This afternoon there is a large birthday party on in the restaurant and on the patio, but the staff even though they are rushed off their feet have been amazing apologising for the wait for drinks and food which hasn't been long compared to other places I have been. The food as always was fantastic. Thank you and well done Amy and team.

We went to our first quiz Leap Year Quiz last night, group of 6, and had a great night. Wasn 't sure what to expect, but it was really well organised and had a buzzing atmosphere. A real mix of rounds which made it fun. Everyone seemed to be having a ball and interacting well! We didn 't have any food, but it looked so good that we have booked to return for a meal next week! A lot of effort went into the quiz, we especially loved the tasting round! Really liked the fact that there was tabs and table service. 4 of our party had never been to The Blue Anchor before, but we will be coming back!! Highly recommended!

"Honestly...one of the best pub restaurants I have ever visited! We chose to eat here as it was recommended via Alistair Sawday, and it did not disappoint. The food, atmosphere, hygiene and service were all 5* when we visited last night. We sat inside, by candlelight, and ordered 2 starters (the Rye smoked mackerel with buttercream sauce and the heritage tomato salad and 2 mains (the beef burger with fries and the hake with toasted ciabatta and garden peas . It was truly exquisite! We both cleaned our plates (and we don't usually do that! . My only mild criticism is that I didn't realise the hake dish would include bacon lardons they certainly added to the flavour, but as an ethical pescatarian, this could have ruined the meal for me (I didn't allow it to, but 10 years ago when I was more strict it may have upset me . I may have simply missed this ingredient when reading the menu, and I didn't make the waiting staff aware of my dietary preferences, so I accept this was my fault and not theirs. It's just something for other pescatarians reading this review to be aware of. I have absolute confidence that they would prepare the hake dish without the bacon lardons if you asked. As for me....my boyfriend gleefully took them from my plate and demolished them himself! We also enjoyed a medium glass of wine each my boyfriend (who is very particular loved the tempranillo and I had their Italian pinot grigio. Our entire meal would have been less than £60, but with the current government incentive scheme to eat in, it came to less than £40!! We tipped generously as they truly deserved it. We will 100% be returning and can't advocate them enough."
