"So yesterday I went for lunch at the canalside and it has seriously went downhill. I posted a wee comment on their page without going into detail all I said was I was disappointed, as I don't believe in totally slating a business on fb. However they have now deleted my post and blocked me from their page so I am taking it upon myself to leave an honest review. 21 pounds for 2 course isn't the cheapest so I expected something at least edible. I can't fault the waiting staff as they did their job and the food was served promptly as we explained we were in a bit of a rush. I ordered the tomatoe and roast pepper soup for starter and the festive burger for main. Bearing in mind this was 21 quid.... The soup was basically as though they'd opened a tin of tomatoes and heat it up. Nothing more, nothing less. I'd have put up with that as a starter if the burger that came next was actually so bad that we were sniffing it before every bite as there was strange whiff to the meat which us panicking it was off, which we really shouldn't be having to do. We ended up leaving it . The only part which was actually good was the pigs in blankets on top. The point of my post is why can't I post an honest criticism about food which I paid good money for without getting blocked. All I said on the page that they have went down hill. Any decent business would have wanted to know what the issue was in the hope to resolve it for future potential customers. Make your own mind up but I won't be back ."

As always excellent food and service. New menu is great and plenty of gluten free options. Whole family enjoyed it! We will definitely be back again!

We made a reservation for three for a festive lunch and were promptly seated. Our order was taken quickly and the food arrived at our table well presented, piping hot, and delicious. We highly recommend the fabulous food and affordable prices at this restaurant.

The MBK- Canalside is a hidden gem, it maybe out of sight tuck away on backroad to Redding, but once you have visited it will not be out of mind! the food, service and even the ambiance of the place is very good. The price range is acceptable and the you wont be disappointed. View menu

We had a fantastic evening tonight celebrating my husband's birthday. The food was excellent! There were five of us, including our dog. The restaurant is beautiful, and the food and drinks were top-notch. A special mention to the young waitress and waiter who were very friendly and provided excellent service. Thank you for a wonderful night.

We tried the new menu at this restaurant and thoroughly enjoyed our meals. We visited on a Sunday and were pleased to find they now offer a carvery, which my husband loved. I had the steak pie, while one friend had a burger and the other had scampi. We all enjoyed our meals, and found the service and atmosphere to be excellent. Overall, we recommend giving this restaurant a try - it's pretty good.

Ate here on a whim with 2 children and a dog. I had a great experience. Made a telephone enquiry in advance of the visit to check about policy on dogs. The staff member could not have been more helpful. The bar area where we ate had a great atmosphere, the food was well priced, and the food tasty. We ate off the children’s menu and adult menu and the quality of food on both was excellent. A warm and hospitable experience and I will be back. View menu

I’ve been to the former Canal Side 4 times and 3 out of 4 times I’ve been very happy with the service and food. The only negative I had was due to an influx on a busy warm bank holiday weekend which is understandable I was in with family and my dog and ate in the bar area. The waiting staff were friendly and attentive, the service was excellent and we really enjoyed the food. The steak pie and fish and chips are highly recommended for sure. Thanks to Andrew and the team for a very enjoyable experience in a really dog friendly establishment

Booked a table for dinner in the restaurant but when we arrived at the bar for a pre dinner drink we were informed the restaurant was closed Monday to Friday and meals were to be eaten in the bar. We have done this before and it hasn’t been a problem, however we have been avoiding the restaurant for some time as we like to have a pre dinner drink in the bar, but the bar experience has gradually deteriorated. There have always been big television screens, which although I don’t like them I have tolerated as the sound was either off or very low. But our last couple of visits have been spoiled with a very loud television dominating the room showing game shows. I don’t watch these at home so I o...
