"Before the Covid pandemic, my wife and I used to visit this restaurant twice a month. The portions were excellent, the menu was extensive with some unique dishes (like doorstep rarebit and soup), and we always looked forward to dining here. After Covid, we were excited to return for our first visit. The restaurant still had its interesting interior decor with oddities hanging on the walls, and the menu seemed unchanged. However, our experience took a turn for the worse. Our starters arrived quickly and were okay, but then we experienced a significant delay with our main dishes. Other diners who had ordered after us received their food 7 minutes before us. There was no explanation for the 20-minute wait, and we were concerned about our car park ticket expiring. My wife's beef stroganoff was good, but I wish I had ordered it instead of my sirloin skewer with rice. The skewer was presented hanging over a small pot of rice, along with a small salad and a flatbread that was barely large enough to hold the food. It was difficult to eat the dish in this setup, and the lack of chargrilling on the skewer was disappointing. The peppers, onions, and steak were undercooked, and the meat was tough and gray. I had to eat plain rice until I could free up enough space to eat the skewer. It was frustrating not to have a plate to cut the food on, and I wish the staff had communicated the situation to us and offered us another drink while we waited. Overall, I'm unsure if I will give this restaurant another chance, even though it used to be our favorite lunch spot."

Visited for the first time on a Saturday night. The live entertainment was superb (David Marshall) and without exception all the staff were friendly and attentive and looked happy to work here. We had a great meal too. Can’t believe only just discovered this place and will certainly visit again.

Not a great experience. Company booked for the Christmas party very disappointed. We got crammed in the corner with no space to get up whatsoever obviously overbooked the event and we only had 40 minutes to eat our start main desert then everything was cleared away. A very expensive experience which we won’t repeat…… View menu

Amazing place! I've been 3 times now and every time I've been the food was fab! The first time I went i had chicken stroganoff, then steak and ale pie and the 3rd time I had the pulled pork hot dog. I couldn't fault all 3 dishes although I would of liked a bit of salad to go with the hot dog. The service was a bit slow but the staff did amazingly well considering there were only 2 members of staff on and they were really busy. I love the dΓ©cor too, lovely quirky place. Fab atmosphere with the music playing. View menu

Managed to get a table on the night (no pre booking). Didn't really know what to expect. The menu is extensive, the food was pretty good it's not fine dining, but I don't think it has any pretensions here either. Just good food and decent portions. Service was pretty good for a busy evening and the cocktails are excellent. We also had Neil Diamond to entertain us. I hadn't expected that, and probably would not have picked it, but it was entertaining and enjoyable and added to a fun night out. I will go again.

We stumbled upon this restaurant by chance, but it turned out to be an amazing discovery. We were greeted warmly and given a menu that seemed never-ending. I decided to try the chicken skewer, which came with flatbread and salad, as well as a choice of potatoes or rice. I opted for the dauphinoise potatoes and they were a delicious meal on their own. They consisted of tender sliced potatoes topped with cheese, and were absolutely tasty. My husband went for the gammon, topped with two fried eggs and served with salad and a choice of potatoes. He went for chips. We normally skip dessert, but I couldn't resist the Nutella and Crunchie sundae, while my husband chose the apple and blackberry crum...

"Friday night is busy for most, I 'm sure. Appalled by the service in all honesty. Staff seem smug and unattentive. It 's too much trouble to tend your (paying) needs. To be fair.. I am mostly speaking of one particular staff member, but it appears he is the manager/lead server. I can 't differentiate as there were no introductions.. I 'm not bothered about that; necessarily, I 'm trying to stay mutual, but last night, I was so disappointed. Staff leaning over you to take plates without communication of their intentions. I 'm wondering what this place is trying to be, fine dining, or just a typical restaurant.. their attitudes claim they are of the finer sort (including the prices) Poppadoms are made to seem complimentary as you wait. But don 't worry, they will charge you.. there 's a real lack of transparency and connection between customers/staff.. I did enjoy the food somewhat, but It wasn 't brilliant.. I 've had better at the local indian takeaway, in all honesty. The receipt was confusing too (party of 10) It was very difficult to figure out the full costs per person as it was all mixed up. Whilst trying to calculate the costs per individual said staff member was hovering around and made it seem such an inconvenience, and we felt rushed. I believe I am very fair and I always give people multiple chances, but his service was unacceptable... everything was a problem for him. Perhaps it 's a difference of cultures, however, having travelled the world to a a varying degree I have never felt this way, most places have made me feel welcome and this one of the reviews I have left feeling so strongly about it. Every person of the party has shared the same view, so I am not only speaking for myself. He delegated as to how much rice or sides we should have 'as he had accounted for it all ' Which leads me to believe they are aiming for a more prestigious type establishment.. There are very few places that offer THAT type experience in Southport.. and this is not the place. I don 't want to appear angry as I enjoy experiencing all types of food/environments etc etc. But this wasn 't the experience I was led to expect. I haven 't contacted the restaurant yet, but I don 't even know if anything I say (in regards to this visit) will have any effect on their future projections. I hope it was just a busy day, and they were a bit troubled with what was going on.. if that is the case, I will 100% give them another chance and hope that they can treat whomever may enter their restaurant in a manner of which is exciting and enjoyable. After further inspection of the final bill, there were extra items added on said waiter had 'accounted ' for what we required, yet we had far too much rice and other various sides. For example.. if you order 4 beers, it should state 4x beers, But they seem to work it: 1x beer, 1 x rice , 1 x beer, 1x rice, 1x beer, etc etc (for example) Even though we ordered drinks initially, which should all be counted in chronological order. I still have the receipt but didn 't want to post a picture as I 'm sure I have said enough to give a little embarrassment. We were very disappointed and haven 't stopped talking about it since. Don 't have such high expectations and you won 't be disappointed.
