"We went for lunch. I called the venue and they said dogs were allowed in the bar area. I’d specifically asked this as wanted to try the roasts but wanted to check as didn’t want to be turned away for having a dog. We agreed to sit in the bar area. We paid £32 for a roast where the meat was undercooked for lamb, no check back was given, and we had ordered from The bar. Now that I think about it no gravy was offered with the lamb so felt like I was eating from the oily juices of the lamb. It wasn’t enough and the roast trimmings were dry. I would have expected and A rosette or Michelin star service as well as good standards for the price we paid. It was far from it."

Neighborhood pub. Feel the energy of the locals. We sat upstairs. More quiet. Day one travel day. Order at bar. I liked my ham pie.

Ridiculously expensive A pint of Brixton lager and a medium Chardonnay with packet of crisps £24!!! The medium Chardonnay was £12.80 alone.won't be returning

Crazy, unjustifiable prices; standing at the bar, a single gin&tonic, one absolutely minuscule ginger ale, and one packet of crisps £17:33 which includes a service charge. A service charge standing at the bar? Perfect way to lose customers View menu

Wine, service and starter all fine. But the star dish of jugged hare was very poor. The tiny bits of meat in the vegetable stew were minuscule. I doubt we had more than an ounce each. For what they were charging I would expect a proper portion of meat.

Great place if you like game and shooting! The food is a bit pricey but its central London so I wasnt expecting anything to be cheap, but the quality definitely reflected the price. I had the Grouse which was seasoned beautifully and the chips are amazing. I'd definitely visit here again and its worth going if youre on a trip to London.

My first Sunday roast beef lunch in November was so good, meat that melt in the mouth, that I went back 3 weeks later, but this time I struggled with the meat. Every morsel was stringy. I had to spit most of it out as it was inedible. For a place that prides itself on the quality of its meat, that was my worst experience with beef (roast or otherwise) ever. Be consistent chef, shame on you. View menu

Underwhelmed. The pie had by two guests tasted of a strange vinegary flavour. Probably the whole grain mustard. The pastry was lovely however. Truffle cabbage lacked truffle. The glass of bubble arrived minus bubbles. Overall it was an underwhelming experience. Staff were lovely and resolved issues with professionalism and charm. From this aspect the venue was ace. But a bar staff pouring flat champagne and not noticing is disappointing. Can’t say I’d recommend the venue, but it’s an institution so perhaps we arrived on a bad day.

My friend and I were so excited to visit here for lunch, we opted for a nice bottle of wine and the plaice and mussels. What a disappointment.... The fish came whole, with a watery sauce around it, no seasoning at all and the mussels most of which were closed were undercooked. We did what we could with the fish and called the waitress over, she then told the chef in full view of the restaurant and we were made to feel very awkward. We settled our extortionate bill with no discount or the meals taken off and left. Ive had nicer meals at the Harvester.... such a shame, lovely wine though :
