Fantastic pub, the best pizzas! We've been coming to this pub for years and it's always been spot on. Delicious food; friendly, attentive staff; and a great drinks range. Our fave pub in Rutland.

We had lunch here as a family. Great quality food with attention to all the details. Friendly staff tho not many of them so not always the quickest. Would definitely recommend tho and look forward to trying dinner.

went for a Sunday roast last weekend. the food was excellent and the pub has a great atmosphere. also appreciate the attentive and generous service, e.g. to pour my father in the question of the law on the golden sirup in his yorkshire pudding!

grew up on a Saturday evening without booking. the staff were very courteous and friendly, they have redesigned their reservations so that we can sit down (my mother is disabled and we had a child car with us). everyone was exceptionally good, pierced hot and great portions. beautiful collection of real ales to choose. we were very happy with our visit.

We had a fabulous night celebrating my daughters 18th birthday, the food was excellent, the service was brilliant, nothing was to much trouble for the staff, they worked really hard to give us the perfect evening. We expected the pub to be half empty as it was a Tuesday night but the place was buzzing, which obviously goes to show what a popular place it is.

we have also left this review elsewhere, so I will keep it short. ends in oakham due to a rugby game. the places we know from our last visit are now closed. walk around and discover the place in the corner. we ordered bread, fry and desserts. very well made and much careful and attentiveness. service was great, even correcting a mistake that was probably our fault. I can't fail

platz was quite in the corner of the market place. sadly short employees, but still gone out of the way to supply us with food. manager and staff were so friendly to us and especially our doggo. many friendly pups there, fresh water for them too. all in all great food, amazing service and beautiful little beer garden hidden on the back. eat a little expensive, but good quality all equal thanks mathew and team for a great visit

Being using the Nelson for years, it has now changed hands, the prices have gone up, the food is still good however the size of the serving have reduced. The Beer is still good. What has changed is the service, They used to have the...best of the best staff who really made you feel special Hannah and Lee spring to mind, they were so good. Now it is the opposite nobody seems to know what they are doing especially behind the bar and taking the food orders. What used to be a special experience is now just so so. Shame.

we were in oakham for a rugby game and had no idea where to go. we found this place purely by chance (it looks like it was from a thickening romance). What do you want me to say? it was great. service was brilliant. even correcting a mistake that I believe our fault was complete. eating was amazing. the brote fantastic. the roasted and the accompanying veg superb bark was fantastic, but woman said that he was the best she had. the desserts were also great. I cannot mistake the place and would recommend it to anyone who visits the city.
