"Great facility. Comfortable and cosy setting. Service could’ve been better as the lady that we spoke to wasn’t that friendly. Thankfully we managed to get a table as it was quite busy. We weren’t looking for a large meal but instead decided to order a few starters as small plates. My favourite was the Halloumi fries. The seasoning on them was superb. We also got maple glazed chicken wings, which were good, salt and pepper calamari was spot on, slow roasted tomato arancini was ok and the stone-baked flatbread was great and finally the Camembert bites were fine. We did think that it was quite expensive considering that the quantity of food was quite low in some of the dishes but we were overall happy with our meal."

Nice restaurant in the middle of nowhere. Lots of rooms and cozy corners and even real fire place.

This place is right next to the Butterfly Farm, and the massive garden centre which is worth a visit in itself.

The pub is a warm and inviting spot to escape the winter chill, with cozy real fires to enjoy. It is tastefully decorated and offers a comfortable atmosphere with a wide variety of drink options, including tasty cocktails at affordable prices. The restaurant is always bustling and well-liked, offering an extensive menu, though slightly on the pricier side. The food service is prompt and efficient, but the bar service can be a bit slow. The staff is friendly and accommodating. Overall, the pub offers decent pub fare and is convenient for those staying at the nearby hotel.

"Having successfully completed a major project I took my team out as a small thank you. There were 5 of us and we arrived around 1030h for breakfast. We were greeted by the very .lovely Amy, who promptly seated us. She was polite, friendly and attentive. She took our drinks orders, then our breakfasts. We all opetd for the full Scottish at under a tenner each. The meal was fabulous, well cooked, piping hot and presented on high quality flatware with good cutlery. The sausages had a delicious crisp outer, the bacon was well done but not hard, the mushrooms were served in a wee bowl with chilli oil. The eggs were perfect, accompanied by a slice of chunky bread, haggis and black pudding. Beans finished it off brilliantly. The teapot was quirky and delightful. Alison, the owner was not only beautiful but very charming with it. She was involved in the serving of our meals and chatted to us as she served us, making us feel more than welcome. Five breakfasts with assorted lattes, cappuccinos and teas was under £70 so very reasonably priced too. I left a well deserved tip and Alison kindly let me know that the full tip always went to the serving staff, so very ethical too. My colleagues were all as suitably impressed as I was. I cannot recommend this place highly enough and the only shame is that my time in Bonnyrigg is over, and I dearly wished I'd found The Beetroot sooner."
