"I must be some kind of foodie Jedi and I'll tell you why. I *really* wanted to win our christmas raffle prize which was a three course meal with wine at The Scran Scallie the fabulous gastropub in my hood. I said as much a few times but it was a raffle and there were over a hundred bods at our christmas do so my chances weren't particularly high. But I won it! And I rarely win anything (without working very hard for it) so I reckon I must have willed it through sheer mind-force. The raffle was in aid of SANDS Lothian a charity close to my heart and so I thought it was only right that I thank the pub and the force' with a review."

at the end of the stockbridge high street you will find the scran scallie, a bib gourmand with gastropub. it came very recommended by patricks friend who studied in edinburgh, and a recommendation always counts for a lot. when we scanned the menu, we got brot in a small muslin fabric bag and creamy butter.

We escort this restaurant to celebrate um anniversary enquanto is a ferias em edimburg. não we repent. from the entrance, I've come to the top. All as deliveries we ordered was muito boas: as porco-powered sausages to be colher food, to cake of bife was muito balanced, to massa quente was fine and wrapped meat and succulent molho. a list of vinhos é essencialmente composta por vinhos francés, bordeaux. voltaremos, sem duvida.

After our amazing meal at The Kitchin on our last visit to Edinburgh I knew already that we would have to repeat the experience. But as we were travelling with Mark, who is a meat and potatoes kind of guy, I made a reservation at The Scran Scallie instead. Tom wanted to create a place where families could come to enjoy a meal, with their children. And on the night we were there, one of the ‘children’ was the most adorable Boxer.

nice lunch place came here for a special eating, and despite the other half thoughts that were transferred to the presentation, I thought it was first class. the free brot and the butter while I was on the net was so good, I could not resist the extra offered! both netzen were excellent as the common dessert. also the service was with all the staff we meet and friendly. the coffee was a little strong for me, but it certainly has not distracted from the whole joy of the meal.

The Scran and Scallie is Tom Kitchin’s latest venue, a stylish gastro pub offering relaxed dining and fresh Scottish produce reflecting his ‘from nature to plate’ ethos. On our arrival, as we hadn’t pre-booked, the friendly staff offered us a table at the bar area and gave us the option to have a drink while we waited for a table, or we could eat there. We decided to wait for a table in the restaurant in order to get the full experience and after a short wait we were seated in the rustic and cosy restaurant.

Thursday nights are the best date nights. After a hectic week that’s very nearly over, there’s nothing better than sharing a bottle of chilled wine, or sipping that first G&T, and enjoying some good food and even better company. But here’s a question for you – where would you go for date night in Edinburgh? Where would you book, or like to be taken, depending on who is reading this, for that first, all impressive date night? When match.com posed that question to Mr F&P and myself, we both knew exactly where to head…

came by chance over this restaurant and was super excited when I found out it was a gastro-pub. I wanted to book, but they were full. it was informed, however, that they would keep some tables aside for the decline of customers. bonus! and so we are here at a sat-end. has ordered the chicken parfait to begin with. delicious! then a fish main, coley roast with artichoke and it was cooked to perfection. beilage was savoy kohl with speck reminded me of christmas and it was perfectly spiced. the cocktails are divine and the service is no longer to use!

I visited here not long after it opened, way before the inception of my blog. I had a great time then so we decided to book Scran and Scallie is the brainchild of Tom Kitchin and offers relaxed gastro pub style dining, with mismatched furniture and neutral colourings. Scran and Scallie. After perusing the menus, I opted for both my starter and main from the specials menu; wood pigeon on toast with hazelnut salad followed by a Sunday roast of beef with veg and a Yorkshire pudding. My dining companions went for goats cheese and beetroot salad and salmon ravioli for their starters and they both went for the fish pie for their main.
