"I discovered cotswold baguettes while I was looking for a grilled lunch for my men birthday gathering. from the beginning of the first contact until the reception of the lunchtime the team was excellent in its service and the delivery of an extraordinary lunch. delicious sandwiches and snacks...made in-house and beautifully presented. "From arrival to departure, the attention to our comfort and enjoyment was unstinting. Friendly barman, who made excellent cocktails and very welcoming Maitre D ' who oversaw the food service (and knew everything about the dishes 8 course tasting menu, veggie and non veggie). A panoply of tastes, textures and beautifully presented dishes unfolded, each building on, and contrasting beautifully with its predecessor. Flavours abounded and surprised the palate at each turn, yet everything tasted 'as it should '. My highlight was the red mullet in a 'nage ' of rhubarb and lovage oil, yet nothing could be faulted. A visit by the sous chef who toasted marshmallow lollipops at the table and served a variety of chocolate fancies capped the dining experience. As did the fine port which the Maitre D ' proposed to end the evening. Wonderful."

"The one-man bar team was slow, the cider was off. When we went to be seated we were told there was no booking, I offered to show them my confirmation email, there was lots of chat between the two waitresses but they insisted there was no booking. Eventually they logged into the opentable app, where my booking appeared. We were told it was not their fault and they didn't know why I'd booked via that app (it's on the link from their website) When we were seated we were informed 2 of the roast meats had sold out which left only beef, at 1400 on a Sunday I was quite surprised by this and have to assume the kitchen is very poorly stocked. To be fair, the food was good but the overall experience was very underwhelming."

"Having stopped in Bourton on the Water and thought I would grab something to eat to save sorting something out later that evening. Having a quick scan on Tripadvisor I thought I would give Smiths a try. Entering I was given a choice of table so opted for one by the window to watch the world go by! I ordered the Smiths Classic Burger, Truffle and Parmesan Fries and thought I would give the Limoncello Spritz a try. Some reviews on here say that there is a wait for the food to arrive and yes there is and to me that is a good thing. If you have to wait it means that the food you have ordered is cooked freshly for you. The burger was well cooked and flavoursome with just the right amount of extras inside to make it something easy to pick up and eat. The truffle and parmesan fries again were very flavoursome. The Limoncello Spritz has a bold claim on the menu in saying that they make Limoncello better than the Italians but to me personally Sorrento Limoncello is superior but Smiths Spritz is still very drinkable. Family run and friendly had a nice conversation with Seb about other places locally to visit and with mum (sorry I didn’t catch your name) about how they came to Bourton and the history of the tea room to burger restaurant change. Yes there is a service charge, yes the mention it when paying and ask if that is ok. To me yes that is fine. Visit other restaurants (not cafes or fast food) and you’ll find that they also charge a service charge. Maybe it should be printed on the menu, maybe it shouldn’t. Everyone has their own opinion. Would I go back again? Would I go with friends? The answer to both of these questions is……. Yes without a doubt!"

"The food at this restaurant was truly delicious and beautifully presented. I had the sea trout, prawns, and creamy maize served in a bowl with roasted kale, which was full of flavor. My partner had the lamb, cooked perfectly to his liking. For dessert, I enjoyed the apricot bavarois with meringue, apricots, and ice cream, while my partner had the cheese board with a generous portion of three cheeses. A special touch was the roasted bread and creamy cheese butter served at our table. It was our wedding anniversary and we were thrilled to celebrate it at The Old Stocks. The atmosphere was great, the food was delicious, and the staff was very attentive."
