"smart but relaxing village pub in rural South East Wales, a few miles from the A48 between chepstow and newport. the employees are particularly friendly and friendly in this food-oriented operation, but the drinkers are also welcome here, and they seem to have gone out of their way in their post lockdown reopening preparations. eating is exceptionally good; not cheap, but good value given the quality and the generous portion sizes. the menu for most flavors and I chose the special of the day, the filet of cornish plaice and a huge piece of fish it was, perfectly cooked and served with a well selected selection of fresh vegetables. this was very nicely washed out with an excellent pint butty bach. the pub also offers a small beer garden."

We were the only customers during the middle of the week, but the restaurant is tucked away from the main area. However, the food was delicious and the service was excellent. The price per person ranged from £30 to £40. We rated the food and service a 5 out of 5, and the atmosphere a 4 out of 5.

We dropped in for lunch and had a lovely meal. I had haddock and chips which the chef grilled at my request rather than batter and it was lovely with tartare sauce and mushy peas. My husband had chicken and leek pie, chips and peas. The pie was very tasty, with lots of meat and a good flavour of leek. We plan to return. Drinks, there was a good selection of beers, lagers and ciders and non alcohol, which was great as I was driving. Very clean and friendly. Price per person: £20–30 Food: 5 Service: 5 Atmosphere: 5
